TheHeretic -> Dems advised to embrace the politics of personal destruction (1/6/2010 8:43:57 PM)

A lovely little piece of analysis from Huffington Post

So what advice are the Democrats getting as they get ready to try and hold their Congressional majorities this fall?

Go negative the second you know who your opponent is, and, in the big picture, define anything less than utter defeat as victory.

It's an interesting read, especially for those who enjoy 'inside baseball.'

Those Democratic bastards!

If they could only follow the high road that Republicans choose.

They're going to lose seats. Period. Filibuster breaking will be over. But they'll hold their majorities, at least in 2010.

Standard political bullshit then... party notwithstanding

Or stick by the values they claim to possess.  There is a word for people who don't do that.  Do you know what that word might be, RML?

I'm with the anonymous "key strategist" down towards the end of the article, Muse.  It's way too volatile to try and predict with any certainty.

Well they are, but they're "destructin'" themselves.
We STILL can't see any healthcare debates on C-Span like the "college professor" told us we would.

Right you are, Popeye.  I saw something the other day placing approval of the Tea Party above both Dem and Repub numbers.  Laughing at the "Teabaggers" might very well blow up in their collective face.

daddy- what is a demoncrat?

housesub4you -> RE: Dems advised to embrace the politics of personal destruction (1/7/2010 4:13:37 AM)

Everyone is talking about the Dems losing seats with people retiring, no one in the news is pointing out the fact that more GOP members have announced they will not be running for re-election next time around

There are 10 Dems retiring and 14 Gop'ers retring from the house.  So if the GOP says Dems are dropping like flies, what are they dropping like since they are losing more?

Yes, and I think it applies to both.

And then what?

Will we have Tea Party candidates?

The only thing that will accomplish is fracturing the Republican Party, and it has already started:

Think Progress » Glenn Beck-Inspired Tea Party Candidates Step Up

Glenn Beck, who has waged a conspiratorial, hateful campaign against liberals and his other political enemies all year, has been galvanizing his supporters to run for office. Today, conservative activist Eric Forcade announced that he is running in the Republican primary to unseat longtime Rep. C.W. Bill Young (R-FL). In explaing his reason for running, Forcade said he was inspired by the “values that have been popularized by Glenn Beck.”

Beck’s 9/12 project and its closely related “tea parties” have inspired a number of other challengers to Republican lawmakers deemed insufficiently “pure

If 'Tea Party' candidates really are the preferred choice

The latest Rasmussen Poll has disastrous news for Republicans -- and disquieting news for for the rest of us too:

In a three-way Generic Ballot test, the latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds Democrats attracting 36% of the vote. The Tea Party candidate picks up 23%, and Republicans finish third at 18%. Another 22% are undecided.

Among voters not affiliated with either major party, the Tea Party comes out on top. Thirty-three percent (33%) prefer the Tea Party candidate, and 30% are undecided. Twenty-five percent (25%) would vote for a Democrat, and just 12% prefer the GOP.

Glancing around at the thread titles, I'm gonna guess that memo has been out for a while.

Look at the way thinkprogress spun that, which its fairly obvious. To remove their spin factor, simply add the Tea Party percentages to the Republican percentages and you get the total Conservative percentages.

My rule is--if they won't put their names to it, they aren't credible sources.

This ain't the Witness Protection Program.

housesub4you -> RE: Dems advised to embrace the politics of personal destruction (1/7/2010 8:05:52 AM)

You mean this Tea party which does not want to have the GOP leader Steele in their ranks, perhaps the Tea Party is not as supportive of the GOP as the GOP spins they are.

http://thinkprogress.org/2010/01/06/steele-tea-partiers/

And this was from an interview on Fox which you can watch on the link

Musicmystery -> RE: Dems advised to embrace the politics of personal destruction (1/7/2010 8:08:38 AM)

The Tea Party doesn't support anything.

No, that's not a snarky remark--the Tea Party is against things, but has no organized support of anything.

housesub4you -> RE: Dems advised to embrace the politics of personal destruction (1/7/2010 8:13:24 AM)

I agree,

I just find it curious that people include them in the  GOP numbers when there is no evidence that they should be, they speak out against anyone who does not do what the founder supports, with out the millions 1 man gave to start them up, they would be nothing
