Brain -> Is the Secret Service Targeting the Birthers? (1/8/2010 12:29:55 PM)

Better to be safe than sorry as far as I'm concerned. I think it would be horrible if a president was assassinated again, especially because he is black. Instead of improving race relations it would set things back at least 50 years. I am a risk averter and I'm not taking any chances with my life being around people with guns or smokers or riding motorcycles, and I don't like swimming either because I don't want to be another Natalie Wood or that Australian model who was eaten by a shark.

Is the Secret Service Targeting the Birthers?

Over the past year, Secret Service agents charged with protecting President Obama seem to have taken a keen interest in the Birther movement, the committed group of anti-Obama activists around the country who claim the president was born in Kenya, not Hawaii, and is thus ineligible to serve. The idea has been widely and repeatedly debunked (see FactCheck.org's thorough takedown here), but that hasn't stopped Birthers from doggedly making their case in American courtrooms, to US attorneys, and even to a rural county grand jury, in the hopes that a judge will rule in their favor and Obama might eventually be removed from office. Those efforts have failed spectacularly, but they seem to have succeeded in placing the Birthers on the radar of the Secret Service.

At least a half-dozen prominent anti-Obama activists who've petitioned various federal agencies or courts to investigate the president's citizenship or publicly questioned his eligibility to serve say they've been visited by Secret Service or Homeland Security agents. Dr. Orly Taitz, the "Queen Bee" of the Birther movement, says, "A number of my supporters had visits from Secret Service, from different agencies, INS, Homeland Security. There are a whole number of people who got these visits to intimidate and harrass them." She says federal agents visited her home once; however, she was not there to be interviewed.*

You would be dead already from worry if you lived in Milwaukee. Most of everyone I know do at least two of the things that you consider a risk. We have guns in our homes, smoke (getting less and less ) and ride Harleys. You forgot a biggie. We drink beer here to. Don't worry so much. That alone will shorten your life.

Brain, don't worry, people like you die in their homes shot by intruders because you don't own guns to protect yourselves. Go easy into that dark night.
P.S. I don't know if anyone told you yet but President Obama is "white" too.

There appears to be evidence to support this.

In one study:
http://psychcentral.com/news/2007/04/17/chill-out-live-longer/757.html
A neurotic personality was defined as a person with the tendency to worry, feel excessive amounts of anxiety or depression and to react to stressful life events more negatively than people with low levels of the trait. Neuroticism levels were measured using a standardized personality test.
Results of the study will be published in the print edition of the journal Psychological Science in late May. The study is available online at http://www.psychologicalscience.org.
In the study, researchers tracked the change in neuroticism levels of 1,663 aging men over a 12-year period. Using the data gathered in the first analysis, researchers calculated the men’s mortality risk over an 18-year period using the average levels and rates of change.
By the end of the study, half of those men classified as highly neurotic with increasing levels of neuroticism had died while those whose levels decreased or were classified as less neurotic had between a 75 percent and 85 percent survival rate.
Even small increases in neuroticism were shown to have negative effects. Participants with as little as a one-unit increase in neuroticism over the course of the study were shown to have a 40 percent higher chance of death than a participant who showed no change.

And a couple of others:

Have there been strange cars parked in your neighborhood lately?

servantforuse -> RE: Is the Secret Service Targeting the Birthers? (1/8/2010 1:25:34 PM)

Morons who believe President Obama wasn't born in the U.S., and hence isn't eligible to be president. It's a fun opportunity for racists to high five and slap asses, occasionally throwing in jokes about climate change.

I just find it odd that a white guy might have been born in Kenya.

Sorry, haven't read the rest of this thread, but this caught my eye so I'm responding. You can go back to your regularly scheduled program now...

Ummm...you need to do a wee bit of research before you make that pronouncement, especially since my husband, who happens to be a "white guy" was born in Nairobi, Kenya in the 1960's, and there is a substantial history of "white guys" living in Kenya in the past...

It happens.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_Africans_of_European_ancestry#Kenya_2

Kenya
There were 60,000 white settlers living in Kenya in 1965.[12] Today, there are an estimated 30,000 whites in Kenya.[13] However, there has been an increasing number of British expatriates that, according to the BBC, number at about 32,000.[14] Evolutionary scientist Richard Dawkins was born in Kenya.

And the jokes are about the "global warming" goose stepping pinheads who are walking around in a fucking *trance* making the "goths" look believable!
Hell, the Scientologists wouldn't let them join their cult. "Get the fuck out of here you Stepford wives!"
It's pretty bad when the "DYANETICS" people don't want you! "No questionaire for you!"

Try telling the Aryan nation or the Klan that. You'd better keep your gun to hand when you do that, is all I'm saying...
