ORIGINAL: MsCesca Look. This is my project and I will distribute it how I want. IF you want to participate, great. Email me. If not, great, move on. I can't move on; Edmund Burke and Rev. Martin Niemoller won't let me. quote:
And yes I am planning on writing a book. Publishing is publishing in my field. I will be proud to put my name on this when it is finished. And I thought you were a biologist. I've been on a number of tenure/promotion committees and one thing that's always a matter for contention is professional vs popularization, with popularization counting as a small fraction of peer reviewed work. As I recall. Isaac Asimov's tenure request was endangered by "failure to publish," meaning, of course, in tenured journals and through approved houses. It's not bad for a soft scientist to succeed in an off-field non-juried publication... but for a hard scientist to do so with a soft-science book? Heck, I got flak when I co-wrote Determinants of Parole Success for the Second Correctional Symposium since it was "out of field." Do you expect to make so much on the book you can endow a chair? After all if you are going to out yourself on the cover of the book, the evils you expect to have happen if you do so here will only be multiplied exponentially. I suspect you'll curry a number of exhibitionist types, but I think this little notestream has gone a way toward to full disclosure for those who have had a trusting nature.
