Another important poll! How quick is your car from 0-60mph?

Mine will do just under 8 seconds - sports cars generally do 4-5 seconds, economy cars anything up to 25 seconds!

This vital research will tell us just how many petrol heads/ gear heads are members of CM and thus show us whether there is any correlation between an interest in BDSM and an interest in insanely fast cars. Or something.

The M3 easily in 6-10. Although I have to admit I've not tried to shift faster. That is the key for me, the shifting. I tend to baby it so I don't have to deal with transmission problems in the future. The bitch is expensive enough just to maintain, I don't even want to think of repairing something.

Totally unfair poll!!!  I call foul.  The car i currently own is not the car I would own if I had my way.  I have a very sluggish economy car.  A sedan, for God's sake!!  What I would drive is one that could do it in 5-6 seconds.  I test-drove a performance car one time & I thought the salesman was gonna have a nervous breakdown.  I'm pretty sure that he had to go change his panties when we got back to the lot.  I just wanted to see how it would handle.  Geesh!!!

Similar here LaT! I've done it a couple of times now, the 0-60 thing and its scary when you set the display to show mpg or range. With normal driving I can get around 35mpg out of the Jag, but racing 0-60 the display changes disturbingly quickly! I swear it must take a gallon of petrol to do it! And repairs to a Jag - it isnt funny.

Sorry LB! I'd have a 4-5 second sportscar if I could - mind you I shall come the summer/autumn according to the plan. The decision is whether it will be a Porsche, a Lotus or the more sensible Audi TT.

I just glanced up and out the window and had to laugh at the thought that came to mind. Right now, here, most people are more concerned with how fast they can get from sixty to zero without sliding and crashing!!

Same here LaT. Its probably on account of frustration that I cant just go out driving that I'm so obsessed with this stuff. And would you believe, the re-runs of Top Gear are no longer on TV too! I need my fix of excessive horse power goddammit!

Interesting tidbit....there are more registered vehicles in the U.S. than there are licensed drivers. Literally, we couldn't drive all our cars at once.

Now that's a saturated market!

Sorry, Jeff!

No wonder unemployment is so high; all these south American mammals crossing the border and taking jobs.

Anteaters go home!

I just bought the 2010 Cadillac CTS-V, 0 to 60 is 3.9 to 4.0 seconds and my Charger is about 5.4 seconds...

Wonder who has the less than 6 seconds car? Wonder if they'd like a house guest for a while?

Aha - answered in the crossover of posts! Diane - when can I come and stay and should I bring my own pillow cases?

More interesting though is that so far only choice 1 and 2 have been selected at all; perhaps those with a lack of vehicular motivation have a lack of voting motivation

Sorry, Jeff!

That is interesting now that I think about it. Most households around here have more vehicles than drivers. I think a lot of it has to do with the farm way of thinking. I know that I only drive the 4 wheel drive truck when absolutely necessary, yet it is necessary. The old Prism is the bests vehicle for slippery winter roads but can only go through a certain depth of snow. The M3 is the newest and actually gets the best gas milage of the three but has proven to be worthless in any amount of snow so has been in the garage since October.

I drive a Subaru Forrester and have no clue how long it takes to go from 0 to 60.  I have no problems merging on the highway or passing cars.
To be honest, though, it doesn't matter to me if I'm not seen as a cheetah on the road...my car is paid for and I can lug more dirt, plants and firewood in it than I ever could in my Jetta (zippy little thing).

Depending on who you ask, I'm driving either a mid-size SUV or a large crossover.  Much more important to me than the straight line 0-60 is the 40-70 time I need to get merged onto the freeway, and the V-6 does that pretty well.  Then I set the cruise control and roll to work on three cylinders.

I'm not sure exactly how fast it will go.  I've had it up to 115, and just didn't like how it felt over 110.

Mine will do it in under 6 seconds, its an American car with factory supercharger, and most people do not even know what it is.
