osf/bob/oaf the age-shifting dom - While you're deciding how old you are can you also reconcile if you identify with "a community of like minded individuals", (your quoted response concerning the query about the source of the term 'Dom rot'); with the "i'll tread my own path" position concerning the disingenuous "COMMUNITY"?
BTW - Here in LA, MAST often gets together with partners they have or met at dungeons in LA. We've "noticed", been know, and have also been "seen", with them on many occasions. I dare say in those individual instances where we've gotten to know some 'up close and personal' there is a shared and mutual respect.
Do you seek them out as an exception to your position regarding the "community" or do you simply one hand web-surf over to their site for obscure term definitions?
BTW-I'm still have a difficult time finding a reference to 'dom-rot' on their site. There was one trail that I followed, but it turned out to be health related thread regarding an unfortunate MAST member who was hoping to get some advice on how to cure 'crotch-rot'. That's not the same thing - right?
I think some of the people who attend the Venice Beach Munch are active MAST members. We haven't attended since before the holidays and we were planning on attending the one coming up next week. I'll ask them about the term. 'Dom-rot' isn't one of the secret sacred tenets of MAST is it? But of course you wouldn't know that since, as you say, you "tread my own path" in those velcro secured footwear.
If nothing else - it should be a fun discussion. I'll be sure to give you credit and point them to CM and your threads in particular. Maybe it will generate more contacts, if you can get over the fact that they are active in that 'community' you loath.
Just to clear up the MAsT discussion.
Merc is quite correct. While there absolutely is a yahoo group for Masters And slaves Together, the primary purpose of it's existence is not just to serve as a discussion board. The majority of the traffic (posts) within that yahoo group is to post information regarding leather events. The following is taken from the main page of the yahoo group itself. (Yes, I'm a member of that yahoo group.)
Description This is the general discussion list for Masters and slaves Together, an international organization devoted to providing a safe and welcoming space for all to discuss M/s and MAsT items. MAsT (Masters And slaves Together) is a non-profit organization which exists as an education, support and resource group for individuals involved in, or interested in, the Master/slave lifestyle.
MAsT is over 20 years old and has 30 active chapters in many major
U.S. cities, where monthly meetings are held and members meet and talk, sharing information and learning from each other. MAsT is not, primarly, an Internet group. Some MAsT members and supporters live in M/s relationships, some have in the past, some never have and are actively pursuing this life and some are simply supportive or gathering information. However, many if not most, MAsT members meet and interact at lifestyle/kink/leather events, where MAsT maintains a strong presence. That being said, a willingness or ability to interact face to face is not necessary for MAsT membership or membership on this newsgroup.
The MAsT discussion list is open to anyone and everyone
interested in, supportive of, or investigating the Master/slave
dynamic or D/s relationships. All we ask is common politeness and

I hope this helps to clear up the difference between the MAsT groups that actively meet across the country, and the existance of the yahoo group.
