Pretty much everyone loves music. What are some favorite lyrics of yours? One's that make you stop and smile, or cry, or dance around the room?

Trace Adkins' "Arlington"

I never thought that this is where I'd settle down.
I thought I'd die an old man back in my home town.
They gave me this plot of land;
Me and some other men,
For a job well done.

There's a big white house sits on the hill just up the road.
The man inside, he cried the day they brought me home.
They folded up a flag,
And told my Mom and Dad
We're proud of your son.

And I'm proud to be on this peaceful piece of property.
I'm on sacred ground and I'm in the best of company.
And I'm thankful for those thankful for the things I've done.
I can rest in peace,
I'm one of the chosen ones.
I made it to Arlington.

I remember Daddy brought me here when I was eight.
We searched all day to find out where my Granddad lay.
And when we found that cross,
He said, "Son, this is what it cost
To keep us free."

Now here I am a thousand stones away from him.
He recognized me on the first day I came in.
And it gave me a chill,
When he clicked his heels,
And saluted me.

And I'm proud to be on this peaceful piece of property.
I'm on sacred ground and I'm in the best of company.
And I'm thankful for those thankful for the things I've done.
I can rest in peace,
I'm one of the chosen ones,
I made it to Arlington.

We're thankful for those thankful for the things we've done.
We can rest in peace,
'Cause we are the chosen ones.
We made it to Arlington.

Yeah dust to dust,
Don't cry for us.
We made it to Arlington.

Geez, I was going to post something from a Jimmy Buffett song, but I can't follow those lyrics!  I have tears in my eyes.

I had tears typin' 'em, too!  That song always makes me cry.  You should have seen me blubbering like a baby when he did that one in concert last month!

i love Sade.  This song always speaks to me.  i swear she must be a slave...

SADE - Cherish The Day Lyrics You're ruling the way that I move
And I breathe your air
You only can rescue me
This is my prayer
If you were mine
If you were mine
I wouldn't want to go to heaven

I cherish the day
I won't go astray
I won't be afraid
You won't catch me running
You're ruling the way that I move
You take my air

You show me how deep love can be

You're ruling the way that I move
And I breathe your air
You only can rescue me
This is my prayer

I Cherish the Day
I won't go astray
I won't be afraid
You won't catch me running
I Cherish the Day
I won't go astray
I won't be afraid
Won't run away

You show me how deep love can be
You show me how deep love can be
This is my prayer

I Cherish the Day
I won't go astray
I won't be afraid
Won't run away
Won't shy

I Cherish the Day
I won't go astray

I Cherish the Day
I Cherish the Day
I Cherish the Day
I Cherish the Day
I Cherish the Day

Just to get sappy...this song was in my head the first night i spent with my Master, while he was sleeping.  i couldn't sleep because i couldn't stop staring at him, just watching him....(i told you i was sappy, lol)

Artist: Aerosmith
Album: Armageddon Soundtrack
Title: I Don't Want To Miss A Thing

I could stay awake just to hear you breathing
Watch you smile while you are sleeping
While you're far away and dreaming
I could spend my life in this sweet surrender
I could stay lost in this moment forever
Well, every moment spent with you
Is a moment I treasure
I don't wanna close my eyes
I don't wanna fall asleep
'Cause I'd miss you, baby
And I don't wanna miss a thing
'Cause even when I dream of you
The sweetest dream would never do
I'd still miss you, baby
And I don't wanna miss a thing
Lying close to you
Feeling your heart beating
And I'm wondering what you're dreaming
Wondering if it's me you're seeing
Then I kiss your eyes and thank God we're together
And I just wanna stay with you
In this moment forever, forever and ever
I don't wanna close my eyes
I don't wanna fall asleep
'Cause I'd miss you, baby
And I don't wanna miss a thing
'Cause even when I dream of you
The sweetest dream would never do
I'd still miss you, baby
And I don't wanna miss a thing
I don't wanna miss one smile
I don't wanna miss one kiss
Well, I just wanna be with you
Right here with you, just like this
I just wanna hold you close
Feel your heart so close to mine
And just stay here in this moment
For all the rest of time
Don't wanna close my eyes
Don't wanna fall asleep
'Cause I'd miss you, baby
And I don't wanna miss a thing
'Cause even when I dream of you
The sweetest dream would never do
'Cause I'd still miss you, baby
And I don't wanna miss a thing
I don't wanna close my eyes
I don't wanna fall asleep
'Cause I'd miss you, baby
And I don't wanna miss a thing
'Cause even when I dream of you
The sweetest dream would never do
I'd still miss you, baby
And I don't wanna miss a thing
Don't wanna close my eyes
Don't wanna fall asleep, yeah
I don't wanna miss a thing
I don't wanna miss a thing

God Bless The U.S.A. by Lee Greenwood  If tomorrow all the things were gone,
I’d worked for all my life.
And I had to start again,
with just my children and my wife.
I’d thank my lucky stars,
to be livin here today.
‘Cause the flag still stands for freedom,
and they can’t take that away.
And I’m proud to be an American,
where at least I know I’m free.
And I wont forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.
And I gladly stand up,
next to you and defend her still today.
‘Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land,
God bless the USA.
From the lakes of Minnesota,
to the hills of Tennessee.
Across the plains of Texas,
From sea to shining sea.
From Detroit down to Houston,
and New York to L.A.
Well there's pride in every American heart,
and its time we stand and say.
That I’m proud to be an American,
where at least I know I’m free.
And I wont forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.
And I gladly stand up,
next to you and defend her still today.
‘Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land,
God bless the USA.
And I’m proud to be and American,
where at least I know I’m free.
And I wont forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.
And I gladly stand up,
next to you and defend her still today.
‘Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land,
God bless the USA. This song always makes the hair on my neck stand and I get goose bumps.

All about Soul

She waits for me at night, she waits for me in silence
She gives me all her tenderness and takes away my pain
And so far she hasn't run, though
I swear she's had her moments
She still believes in miracles while others cry in vain

It's all about soul
It's all about faith and a deeper devotion
It's all about soul
'Cause under the love is a stronger emotion
She's got to be strong
'Cause so many things getting out of control
Should drive her away
So why does she stay?
It's all about soul

She turns to me sometimes and asks me what I'm dreaming
And I realize I must have gone a million miles away
And I ask her how she knew to reach out for me that moment
ANd she smiles because it's understood there are no words to say

It's all about soul
It's all about knowing what someone is feeling
The woman's got soul
The power of love and the power of healing
This life isn't fair
It's gonna get dark, it's gonna get cold
You've got to be tough, but that ain't enough
It's all about soul

There are people who have lost every trace of human kindness
There are many who have fallen, there are some who still survive
She comes to me at night and she tells me her desires
And she gives me all the love I need to keep my faith alive

It's all about soul
It's all about joy that comes out of sorrow
It's all about soul
Who's standing now and who's standing tomorrow
You've got to be hard
Hard as the rock in that old rock 'n' roll song
But that's only part, you know in your heart
It's all about soul

I cannot reprint all of the song lyrics that touch me deeply so if you care to look them up, feel free.

Goo Goo Dolls - Iris

Les Miserables - The entire album but particularly Empty Chairs For Empty Tables

Peter Gabriel - Come Talk To Me

Phil Collins - The No Jacket Required album and Hello I Must Be Going album. Also the song I Wish It Would Rain. Phil's music got me through some of the hardest times in my life.

Elton John - The song Blessed and I'm Still Standing

So many more... I just don't know where to stop so I will stop here.

Phil does it for me as well...No Jacket Required was the last vinyl album i ever bought.
Also love In the Air Tonight---
But I know the reason why you keep your silence up
no you don't fool me
The hurt doesn't show; but the pain still grows
It's no stranger to you or me

other favs--anything from Roxy Music--Avalon

one that speaks volumes with little lyrics is Honk--Five Summer Stories...the soundtrack from the surf flick Five Summer Stories.

and Meatloaf--Bat Out of Hell

I really liked this song when I was having a really hard time in life

Question - Moody Blues

Why do we never get an answer
When we're knocking at the door
With a thousand million questions
About hate and death and war?
'Cos when we stop and look around us,
There is nothing that we need,
In a world of persecution that is burning in its greed.

Why do we never get an answer
When we're knocking at the door
Because the truth is hard to swallow
That's what the war of love is for.

It's not the way that you say it
When you do those things to me
It's more the way that you mean it
When you tell me what will be.
And when you stop and think about it
You won't believe it's true
That all the love you've been giving
Has all been meant for you.

I'm looking for someone to change my life,
I'm looking for a miracle in my life,
And if you could see what it's done to me,
To lose the love I knew
Could safely lead me through.

Between the silence of the mountains,
And the crashing of the sea,
There lies a land I once lived in,
And she's waiting there for me,
But in the grey of the morning,
My mind becomes confused,
Between the dead and the sleeping,
And the road that I must chose.

I'm looking for someone to change my life,
I'm looking for a miracle in my life,
And if you could see what it's done to me,
To lose the love I knew
Could safely lead me to,
The land that I once knew,
To learn as we grow old,
The secrets of our soul.

It's not the way that you say it
When you do those things to me,
It's more the way you really mean it
When you tell me what will be.

Why do we never get an answer
When we're knocking at the door
With a thousand million questions
About hate and death and war?

'Cos when we stop and look around us,
There is nothing that we need,
In a world of persecution that is burning in its greed.
Why do we never get an answer
When we're knocking at the door
Because the truth is hard to swallow
That's what the war of love is for.

Goanna - Solid Rock

Out here nothin' changes, not in a hurry anyway
You feel the endlessness with the comin' of the light o' day
We're talkin' about a chosen place
You wouldn't sell it in a marketplace, well
Well just a minute now

Standing on solid rock
Standing on sacred ground
Living o-on borrowed soil
And the winds of change are blowin' down the line
Right down the line

Round about the dawn o' time, When dreamin' all began
A croud o' people came
Well they were looking for their promised land
Were running from the heart of darkness
Searching for the heart o' light
Well it was their paradise

But they were standin' on - solid rock
Standing o-on sacred grou-ound
Living o-on borrowed soil
And the winds of change were blowing cold that night
Oh

They were standin' on the shore one day, Saw the white sails in the sun
Wasn't long before they felt the sting, white man, white law, white gun
Don't tell me that it's justified, 'cause somewhere, someone lied
Yeah well someone lied, someone lied, genocide
Well someone lied, oh, ahh

And now you're standing on - solid rock
Standing o-on a sacred grou-ound
Living o-on borrowed soil
And the winds of change are blowin' down the li-ine

Solid rock, Standing on sacred ground
Living o-on borrowed soil
And the winds of change are blowing down the line
Solid rock, Standing o-on sacred grou-ound
Living o-on borrowed ti-i-i-ime
And the winds of change are blowing down the line
Oh-oh-oh no, NO-O
Out here nothin’ changes
Not in a hurry anyway
You feel the endlessness
With the comin’ of the light of day
They’re talkin’ bout a chosen place
You wouldn't sell it in a market place
Well
Well just a minute now

You’re standing on solid rock
Standing on sacred ground
Livin’ on borrowed time
And the winds of change
Are blowing down the line
Right down the line

Around about the dawn of time
The dreaming all began
The proud people came
Well they were looking for their promised land
Running from the heart of darkness
Searching for the heart of light
I think we’ve found paradise

Well they were standing on solid rock
Standing on sacred ground
Livin’ on borrowed time
And the winds of change
Were blowing cold that night
Oh

Well they were standing on the shore one day
Saw the white sails in the sun
It wasn’t long before they felt the sting
White man white law white gun
Don’t tell that its justified
Coz somewhere someone lied
Yeah well someone lied
Someone lied
Someone lied

And now you’re standing on solid rock
Standing on sacred ground
Livin’ on borrowed soil
And the winds of change
Are blowing down the line

Solid rock
Standing on sacred ground
Livin’ on borrowed soil
And the winds of change
Are blowing down the line

Solid rock
Standing on sacred ground
Livin’ on borrowed soil
And the winds of change
Are blowing down the line

Just had to type these out for a fansite, so they were here on my laptop. I Love Mitch Benn's stuff. He's probably the greatest comic song writer since Tom Lehrer

RUBBER WOMAN by Mitch Benn

I remember how it was before
Spending every night alone,
Till I found her in that special store
And I just had to take her home.
She made me smile again,
She took away my pain,
Filled my life with happiness instead,
It used to feel alright
Coming home at night,
Cos she’d be waiting for me underneath my bed.

She was my ru-ub-er woman
The greatest love I ever found
Was my ru-ub-er woman
And I could never let her down
I loved her sturdy thighs,
Her glassy eyes.
I loved her permanant look of surprise…
She was my ru-ub-er woman
And I loved her so

As the weeks rolled by I swiftly learned
She was the woman of my dreams
Though my thighs were getting chafed and burned
From rubbing up against her seams
What a fantastic babe
She was my plastic babe
I loved her seven nights a week
She was my final love
She was my vinyl love
And she never sprang a leak

She was my ru-ub-er woman
Love was as easy as could be
With my ru-ub-er woman
First I’d blow her, then she’d blow me
She never made me wait
She used to smell just great
And certain bits of her used to vibrate…
She was my ru-ub-er woman
And I loved her so

On her birthday, I bought her a cake
Some party hats, some big balloons but then
I filled her up with helium, by mistake
And I never saw that girl again.

Up went my Rubber woman
With a flock of rather startled geese behind her
She was my ru-ub-er woman
And maybe someday Richard Branson’s gonna find her
I had to stand and stare
It’s just not fair
When your baby is lighter than air!…
She was my ru-ub-er woman
And I loved her so!

Why did she go
And leave me below
I just don’t know
Woah-oh-oh-oh

So many......I'll do a few as time allows....

"Chloe Dancer - Crown of Thorns" by Mother Love Bone.........this band would eventually become Pearl Jam

"You ever heard the story of Mr. Faded Glory?
Say he who rides a pony must someday fall
I been talkin' to my alter
Life is what you make it
And if you make it death well then rest
your soul away
Away away yeah child
It's a broken kind of feeling
She'd have to tie me to the ceiling
A bad moon's a comin' better say your
prayers
I wanna tell her that I love her
But does it really matter?
I just can't stand to see you dragging down
Again
So I'm singing
This is my kinda love It's the kind that
moves on
It's unkind and leaves me alone
Yes it does
I uses to treat you like a lady
Now you're a substitute teacher
This bottle's not a pretty, not a pretty sight
I owe the man some money so I'm turnin
over honey
You see Mr. Faded Glory is once again
doin' time
This is my kinda love
It's the kind that moves on
It's unkind and leaves me alone
Yes it does
Like a crown of thorns it's all who you

know ......."
