Pink Floyd is nothing short of brilliant and thanks for including those lyrics.........quite meaningful to me.
As for those upstart Chemical Romancers, they're one of the few new bands that have caught my eye.

You're very welcome! I love Pink Floyd. :)

i love them too!  Seeing David Gilmour in TWO WEEKS!!! yays :)

Just thought of this other song thats one of my absolute favorites!
Beautiful song.

Thank You by Led Zeppelin

If the sun refused to shine, I would still be loving you.
When mountains crumble to the sea, there will still be you and me.

Kind woman, I give you my all, Kind woman, nothing more.

Little drops of rain whisper of the pain, tears of loves lost in the days gone by.
My love is strong, with you there is no wrong,
together we shall go until we die. My, my, my.
An inspiration is what you are to me, inspiration, look... see.

And so today, my world it smiles, your hand in mine, we walk the miles,
Thanks to you it will be done, for you to me are the only one.
Happiness, no more be sad, happiness....I'm glad.

If the sun refused to shine, I would still be loving you.
When mountains crumble to the sea, there will still be you and me.

One of the finest songs of all time, agreed. And I love Boston too. Makes me sad how quickly all that fell apart.

"I looked out this morning and the sun was gone
Turned on some music to start my day
I lost myself in a familiar song
I closed my eyes and I slipped away

It's more than a feeling (more than a feeling), when I hear that old song they used to play (more than a feeling)
I begin dreaming (more than a feeling)
'till I see Marianne walk away
I see my Marianne walkin' away

So many people have come and gone
Their faces fade as the years go by
Yet I still recall as I wander on
as clear as the sun in the summer sky

When I'm tired and thinking cold
I hide in my music, forget the day
and dream of a girl I used to know
I closed my eyes and she slipped away
She slipped away."

Oh . . . that one brings back a lot of memories. I saw them in concert when they were just starting out, playing with Black Sabbath. Wow . . . that was a time ago.

It makes me sick that I never got to see Sabbath, or Pink Floyd, or KISS in their heyday. *sobs loudly*

i will post a review in a thread just for you, Level ;)

The last Floyd show i went to was at an outdoor collesium...traffic was SO BAD.  A storm came in...was awful...we got there 1/2 hour late because of the traffic jam.  i missed my all time favorite song by them, Shine on  You Crazy Diamond.  :(  Then, they had oversold tickets - our section did not exist!  So we stood around while the event staff created a new section with folding chairs on floor level - yay!  Except it was POURING and we got soaked and the guy next to me kept vomiting...

Oh well.  The music was good :)

I'm looking forward to your concert review too, owned! :) I hope its infinately better then the experience you wrote about lol

Here's another song I love:

It's been a long year
Since you've been gone
I've been alone here
I've grown old
I fall to pieces, I'm falling
Fell to pieces and I'm still falling

Every time I'm falling down
All alone I fall to pieces

I keep a journal of memories
I'm feeling lonely, I can't breathe
I fall to pieces, I'm falling
Fell to pieces and I'm still falling

All the years I've tried
With more to go
Will the memories die
I'm waiting
Will I find you
Can I find you
We're falling down
I'm falling
------Velvet Revolver, "Fall To Pieces"
______________________________________________

Love, Love, Love Journey's - - Lovin, Touchin' Squeezin'

You make me weep
And wanna die
Just when you
Said we'd try
Lovin', touchin', squeezin'
Each other

When I'm alone
All by myself
You're out
With someone else
Lovin', touchin', squeezin'
Each other

You're tearin' me apart
Every, every day
You're tearin' me apart
Oh, what can I say
You're tearin' me apart

It won't be long, yes
Until you're alone
When your lover
Oh, he hasn't come home
'Cause he's lovin'
Ooh, he's touchin'
He's squeezin'
Another

He's tearin' you apart
Ooh every, every day
He's tearin' you apart
Oh girl, what can you say
'Cause he's lovin', touchin' another
Now it's your turn, girl, to cry

~~~Last one for tonight ~~~~~~
Tones Of Home by Blind Melon
What do you think they would say
If I stood up and I walked away
Nobody here really understands me,
and so I'll wave goodbye , I'm fine
Tones of home
Said you don't like the way I'm living
You don't like me
Tones of home, Tones of home
And so I'll wave goodbye
I'm flyin, I'm flyin home
And I always thought this would be
The land of milk and honey
Oh but I come to find out that its all hate and money
And there's a canopy of greed holding me down
-chorus-
< See I'm so high to you, so I'll fade away
I said you're on your own
Your mom and daddy said, and your sister said, and your brother is saying
Everybody, is saying everybody, is saying I, eye, god I gotta go!
All my friends patronize me and they say
yo hey boy have you found what you're looking for?
It seems they don't really know me
cause its here, and its what they can't see....
Also this from Paper Scratcher/Blind Melon
"My mind is a mind that I have come to know
And my eyes can't conceive a world that cannot grow"
(I loved Blind Melon and was pretty upset hearing about Shannon Hoon OD'ing. He had such a great voice.)
I hated that Hoon died as well. That whole album is excellent.
"I don't feel the suns comin' out today
It's staying in, it's gonna find another way.
As I sit here in this misery,
I don't think I'll ever (no Lord) see the sun from here.
And oh as I fade away,
They'll all look at me and say, and they'll say,
"Hey look at him! I'll never live that way."
But that's okay, they're just afraid to change.
And when you feel life ain't worth living
You've got to stand up and
Take a look around you look up way to the sky.
And when your deepest thoughts are broken,
Keep on dreaming boy, cause when you stop dreamin' it's time to die.
And as we all play parts of tomorrow,
some ways we'll work and other ways we'll play.
But I know we can't all stay here forever,
So I want to write my words on the face of today.
And then they'll paint it
And oh as I fade away,
They'll all look at me and say, they'll say,
"Hey look at him and where he is these days."
When life is hard, you have to change. "
-------------------- "Change", by Blind Melon
"Proud swagger out of the schoolyard
Waiting for the world's applause
Rebel without a conscience
Martyr without a cause
Static on your frequency
Electrical storm in your veins
Raging at unreachable glory
Straining at invisible chains
And now you're trembling on a rocky ledge
Staring down into a heartless sea
Can't face life on a razor's edge
Nothing's what you thought it would be
All of us get lost in the darkness
Dreamers learn to steer by the stars
All of us do time in the gutter
Dreamers turn to look at the cars
Turn around and turn around and turn around
Turn around and walk the razor's edge
Don't turn your back
And slam the door on me
It's not as if this barricade
Blocks the only road
It's not as if you're all alone
In wanting to explode
Someone set a bad example
Made surrender seem all right
The act of a noble warrior
Who lost the will to fight
And now you're trembling on a rocky ledge
Staring down into a heartless sea
Done with life on a razor's edge
Nothing's what you thought it would be
No hero in your tragedy
No daring in your escape
No salutes for your surrender
Nothing noble in your fate
Christ, what have you done?"
"The Real Thing", by Faith No More
"I know the feeling
It is the real thing
The essence of the truth
The perfect moment
That golden moment
I know you feel it too
I know the feeling
It is the real thing
You can't refuse the embrace...
It's like the pattern below the skin
You gotta reach out and pull it all in
And you feel like you're too close
So you swallow another dose
The pinnacle of happiness
Filling up your soul
You don't think you can take any more
You never wanna let go
To touch the roots of experience
The most basic ingredients
To see the unseen glitter of life
And feel the dirt, grief, anger and strife
Cherish the certainly of now
It kills you a bit at a time
Cradle the inspiration
It will leave you writhing on the floor...
This is so unreal, what I feel
This nourishment, life is bent
Into a shape I can hold
A twist of fate, all my own
Just grit your teeth, make no sound
Take a step away and look around
Just clench your fist and close your eyes
Look deep inside, hypnotize
The whisper is but a shout
That's what it is all about
Yes, the ecstasy, you can pray
You will never let it slip away
Like the sacred song that someone sings through you
Like the flesh so warm that the thorn sticks into
Like the dream you know one day will come to life
Try to hold on just a little longer, stronger
It's the jewel of victory
The chasm of misery
And once you have bitten the core
You will always know the flavor
The split second of divinity
You drink up the sky
All of heaven is in your arms
You know the reason why
It's right there, all by itself
And what you are, there is nothing else
You're growing a life within a life
The lips of wonder kiss you inside
And when it's over the feeling remains
It all comes down to this
The smoke clears, I see what it is
That made me feel this way...
<missing...>
I know the feeling
It is the real thing
The essence of the truth
The perfect moment
That golden moment
I know you feel it too
I know the feeling
It is the real thing
You can't refuse the embrace...
<...missing>
This is so unreal, what I feel
Flood, sell your soul, feel the blood
Pump through your veins, can't explain
The element that's everything
Just clench your fist and close your eyes
Look deep inside, hypnotize
Yes, the ecstasy, you can pray
You will never let it slip away
<missing...>
Yes, the ecstasy, you can pray
You will never let it slip away
You will never let it slip away
You will never let it slip away
<...missing>
Like the echoes of your childhood laughter, ever after
Like the first time love urged you to take it's guidance, in silence
Like your heartbeat when you realize you're dying, but you're trying
Like the way you cry for a happy ending, ending...
I know..."
Maybe the most honest look at drug addiction in song I can think of.
I love music.  Sometimes... ok, quite a bit of the time specific lyrics will jump out and grab me.  They have to have good music to back them up.  Here are snippets of my favorite lyrics.  I thought of too many to write them completely out.
"In you I feel so pretty.  In you I taste God."
~Smashing Pumpkins (Ava Adore)
"Keep on dreaming, boy, cuz when you stop dreaming it's time to die.
...I want to write my words on the face of today, and then they'll paint 'em."
~Blind Melon (Change)  (I had the opportunity to visit Shannon's grave on my lunchbreak the other day while I was subbing at Dayton Elementary.  The part of the quote after the "..." is what is etched on his tombstone.)
"My brain is like a warehouse.  I had no room to spare.  I had to cram so many things to store everything in there."
~David Bowie (Five Years)  Anything Bowie gets me where it counts.
"When I am king you will be pressed against the wall with your opinion which is of no consequence at all."
~Radiohead (Paranoid Android)
"This line is metaphysical, and on the one side the bad half live in wickedness, and on the other side the good half live in arrogance, and there's a steep slope with a short rope.  ...Oh look you've earned your wings.  Are you an angel now or a vulture?"
~Pedro the Lion (Magazine)
"Oh, it's torture, but I'm almost there."
"I ask for so little. Just fear me, love me, do as I say, and I will be your slave."
~The Labyrinth
Nice ones, naked, thanks. And thanks for the bit about Shannon Hoon's grave. Didn't know that.
As for typing out lyrics, I cut and past most of mine. I'd type them out if I had too, least I can do for the music that makes me smile.
One of my all time faves!  Here is another:
Beauty and the Beast (Stevie Nicks)
You're not a stranger to me
And you are something to see
You don't even know how to please
You say a lot but you're unaware how to leave
My darling lives in a world that is not mine
An old child misunderstood out of time
Timeless is the creature who is wise
And timeless is the prisoner in disguise
Oh who is the beauty who the beast
Would you die of grieving when I leave
Two children too blind to see
I would fall in your shadow I believe
My love is a man who's not been tamed
Oh my love lives in a world of false pleasure and pain
We come from different worlds we are the same my love
I never doubted your beauty I've changed
I never doubted your beauty I've changed
Changed who is the beauty
Where is my beast (my love)
There is no beauty
Without my beast (my love)
Who is the beauty
Who my love
Ahhh
Oh la bete la bete
Where is my beast
My beauty my beauty
My beautiful beautiful beautiful
Beautiful beast ....
Pretty much everyone loves music. What are some favorite lyrics of yours? One's that make you stop and smile, or cry, or dance around the room?
The one that comes to mind right now is from a song that Master had played for me when we went dancing one night.  It has since become 'our song.'
~ "Bless the Broken Road" ... by, Rascal Flatts ~
(excerpt)
I think about the years I spent just passing through
I'd like to have the time I lost and give it back to you
But you just smile and take my hand
You've been there you understand
It's all part of a grander plan that is coming true
Every long lost dream led me to where you are
Others who broke my heart they were like northern stars
Pointing me on my way into your loving arms
This much I know is true
That God blessed the broken road
That led me straight to you
Now I’m just rollin’ home into my lover's arms
This much I know is true
That God blessed the broken road that led me straight to you
I love that song! It's encouraging. :)
One I like to sing along to is Left Eye from TLC - Waterfalls
I seen a rainbow yesterday
but too many storms have come and gone
leavin' a trace of not one God given ray
It is because my life is 10 shades of gray
I pray all 10 fade away
seldom praise Him for the sunny days.
And like his promise is true
only my faith can undo
the many chances I blew
to bring my life to anew
Clear blue and unconditional skies
have dried the tears from my eyes
no more lonely cries.
My only bleedin' hope is for the folk who can't cope
with such an enduring pain that it keeps them in the pouring rain
Who's to blame for shootin' cane into your own vein?
What a shame you shoot and aim for someone else's brain
You claim the insane and name this day and time
for fallin' prey to crime
I say the system got you victim to your own mind.
Dreams are hopeless aspirations
in hopes of coming true, believe in yourself
the rest is up to me and you.
(whew, that was alot of typing lol)
Edited to add: HEY!!! No more ice cream cone!!!! Big day for me! lol, and yes, I am curious! Much better than Vanilla! ( no offense to the other ice cream cones here lol)
"If 6 Was 9", by Jimi Hendrix
IF THE SUN REFUSE TO SHINE
I DON'T MIND, I DON'T MIND
IF THE MOUNTAINS FELL IN THE SEA
LET IT BE, IT AIN'T ME
ALRIGHT
'CAUSE I GOT MY OWN WORLD TO LOOK THROUGH
AND I, AND I AIN'T GONNA COPY YOU
NOW IF A 6 TURNED OUT TO BE 9
I DON'T MIND, I DON'T MIND
ALRIGHT, IF ALL THE HIPPIES CUT OFF ALL THEIR HAIR
I DON'T CARE, I DON'T CARE
DIG 'CAUSE I GOT MY OWN WORLD TO LIVE THROUGH
AND I AIN'T GONNA COPY YOU
HA HA
FALL MOUNTAINS JUST DON'T FALL ON ME
GO AHEAD ON MR. BUSINESS MAN YOU CAN'T DRESS LIKE ME
I GOT MY OWN LIFE TO LIVE
I'M THE ONE THAT'S GOING TO DIE WHEN IT'S TIME FOR ME TO DIE
SO LET ME LIVE MY LIFE
THE WAY I WANT TO......
"Dogs", by Pink Floyd
And when you lose control, you'll reap the harvest you have sown
And as the fear grows, the bad blood slows and turns to stone
And it's too late to lose the weight you used to need to throw around
So have a good drown, as you go down all alone
Dragged down by the stone
Who was born in a house full of pain
Who was trained not to spit in the fan
Who was told what to do by the man
Who was broken by trained personnel
Who was fitted with collar and chain
Who was given a pat on the back
Who was breaking away from the pack
Who was only a stranger at home
Who was ground down in the end
Who was found dead on the phone
Who was dragged down by the stone
Who was dragged down by the stone
"Golden Years", by David Bowie
Some of these days, and it won't be long
Gonna drive back down where you once belonged
In the back of a dream car twenty foot long
Don't cry my sweet, don't break my heart
Doing all right, but you gotta get smart
Wish upon, wish upon, day upon day, I believe oh lord
I believe all the way
Come get up my baby
Run for the shadows, run for the shadows, run for the shadows in these golden years
"The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face", by Roberta Flack
The first time ever I saw your face, I thought the sun rose in your eyes.
And the moon and stars were the gifts you gave,
To the dark and the endless sky, my love.
And the first time ever I kissed your mouth,
I felt the earth move through my hands.
Like the trembling heart of a captive bird
That was there at my command.
And the first time ever I lay with you,
I felt your heart so close to mine.
And I know our joy would fill the earth,
And last till the end of time, my love.
"Simple Man", by Lynyrd Skynyrd
Be something you love and understand.
Baby be a simple, kind of man.
Oh, won't you do this for me son,
If you can?
Forget your lust for the rich man's gold
All that you need, oh lord, is in your soul,
And you can do this, oh baby, if you try.
All that I want for you my son,
Is to be satisfied.
(Chorus)
Boy, don't you worry... you'll find yourself.
Follow your heart, lord, and nothing else.
And you can do this, oh baby, if you try.
All that I want for you my son,
Is to be satisfied.
"God", by John Lennon
God is a concept
By which we measure
Our pain
I'll say it again
God is a concept
By which we measure
Our pain
I don't believe in magic
I don't believe in I-ching
I don't believe in Bible
I don't believe in tarot
I don't believe in Hitler
I don't believe in Jesus
I don't believe in Kennedy
I don't believe in Buddha
I don't believe in Mantra
I don't believe in Gita
I don't believe in Yoga
I don't believe in kings
I don't believe in Elvis
I don't believe in Zimmerman
I don't believe in Beatles
I just believe in me
Yoko and me
And that's reality
The dream is over
What can I say?
The dream is over
Yesterday
I was the Dreamweaver
But now I'm reborn
I was the Walrus
But now I'm John
And so dear friends
You'll just have to carry on
The dream is over
A neat little verse I came across today, written by Charlie Daniels--
A brief candle; both ends burning
An endless mile; a bus wheel turning
A friend to share the lonesome times
A handshake and a sip of wine
So say it loud and let it ring
We are all a part of everything
The future, present and the past
Fly on proud bird
You're free at last.
written en route to the funeral for his friend, Ronnie Van Zant of the band, Lynyrd Skynyrd.
