ORIGINAL: Termyn8or "If anybody knows how to get hold of European or Mexican Coca Cola (made with cane sugar, not that corn syrup crap) from a reliable online supplier, I'd be really grateful for the tip. " I heard about Kosher Coke not too long ago. It seems like they typically sell a bunch of it during Passover season. It has a yellow cap and costs about twice as much from what I've seen. A quick search indicates that if it has HFCS in it, it will not get a pareve. Google came up with a few suppliers, but I didn't hear about it from there. Someone told me they saw it in a store. So somewhere out there it should be findable without having to go overseas. It seems to me then, that anyone who wants to avoid HFCS could just look for the little K. I wonder what else they don't allow. Kosher foods may be the key to better eating (or drinking). I have found a few things in my quest to eat better. I like Kosher bread (hear that Hunky ? no HFCS), Kosher salt must be better than regular table salt, damnear anything is. Actually the sea salt I use is probably more Kosher than a Rabbi, as 50% of it was harvested from the Dead Sea. Now the only problem is, do I go to hell for putting Kosher salt on pork ? At any rate, I am a label reader these days. I don't even want sugar in my food, at least in it's refined state. But that's just me. I think even sugar is poison, but not as powerful as HFCS, and nowhere near as poisonous as aspatame. I still avoid it. I pulled my sweet tooth a long time ago, and it seemed to have a positive effect on the other 32. But I am used to it. Sweetener of any kind in tomato sauce is sickening to me, and when I used to drink coffee, one time I grabbed the wrong cup and almost threw up because it had sugar in it. I can't expect others to be like this, especially when we generally pump kids full of sugar from day one almost. (then wonder why they can't sit still) There is a new sweetener out, well not new but just got approved recently - stevia. It is purported to be healthy, but might wind up like aspartame. Time will tell. Aspartame is not a poison per se, but becomes one in the body some time after ingestion. I have no religion whatsoever, but I seem to agree with some things that are disallowed in Kosher foods. I wouldn't mind knowing more about just how that is determined, I'll have to research it sometime. From what I hear, Kosher is more a religious thing, but if that results in healthier foods, great. T When I stopped drinking soda pop- I noticed it for a few months. Then I got used to the taste of water. I still drink coffee- and milk. I dont drink OJ- preferring to eat the orange. Anyhow- Christmas 08- I was out and had a 12 oz can of diet coke. I got maybe 1/2 way thru it and could not finish it. It just was something that I did not crave or want. Most likely your position on sugar is right on. I still eat that- I add it to coffee and it is in the 65% chocolate I eat. With the winter- tho- I run into cookies and pies. I let myself for now- and I do have to morph into a better diet and soon. In my 30s just about everything I ate was overly processed. Today we are the results of the prior 10 years or so. But it is not too late. Foods do effect how you feel. When I think back on what I ate- a good part of it- due to hurry up living- I cringe. egads.
