TheHeretic -> The Kennedy Seat (1/16/2010 9:47:10 AM)

Fun, fun, fun in Massachusetts this weekend.  I'm wishing President Obama all the success on his campaign trip that he had running off to lock in the Olympics for Chicago.  Tuesday might be a fun night for a politics junkie with a conservative lean.  I think I shall laugh my ass off if the "Liberty" party candidate gets enough of the vote away from Democrat candidate Coakley to send the election Brown's way.  His name is Kennedy, and I can't help but wonder how many voters are just going to mark the ballot on remote control when they get in there, after the union boys drop them off.  They must be pretty well conditioned to the routine by now. (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100116/ap_on_el_se/us_massachusetts_senate_union_help)

The Republican, of course, will not be allowed to take the Kennedy Seat in time to vote against the Healthcare bill, if he wins.  We couldn't have that, now could we?  The irony might cause heads to explode.  I think that would be a bad course for the Dems to take, if he scores a clear win.  I can just see the homemade poster at the next major Tea Party, "Who's Teabagging Who?"  Would the networks show that one, do you think?

Contempt for the governed.  Now there's a platform to run for re-election from

Ain't nobody won shit yet. Rest is masturbatory material. But yeah, the junkie can get wood over it I suppose.

I think it's interesting too.

It's certainly an interesting commentary on the knee-jerk level of political "thinking" today--as well as cynicism.

We'll see!

maybemaybenot -> RE: The Kennedy Seat (1/16/2010 12:20:28 PM)

Heretic:

As a Libertarian, I really wish the Libertarian candidate, Joe Kennedy, would withdraw. He has about 3% of the vote right now and in all likelyhood, those votes would go to Scott Brown if he withdrew. He could actually be the " spoiler " and send Coakley to Washington.

MBMBN, that could be true but Brown has the Independants on his side. You don't win elections without Independants.
And the Union guys are up in arms about the 40% tax on their "Cadillac" healthcare plans! They broke a lot of legs to get those plans!
Can you see a bunch of Teamsters from "Local 25" walking into their polling places to vote for,......."Martha" knowing full well that her vote would cost them $200 per week? Or the Longshoremen? Maybe the SEIU or whatever they call it would but half of them can't vote anyway and if the Teamsters tell them to "stay home" they stay home. It's not so much that it's, "Teamsters for Brown" it's, "Teamsters *against* Coakley."

maybemaybenot -> RE: The Kennedy Seat (1/16/2010 1:39:48 PM)

LOL, popeye. You have a point. SEIU was at a rally in Boston today, it had to be translated into Spanish and the mantra's were in Spanish " Si se Puede ". Without getting into anything else here. Can someone tell me how the hell these idiots can actually know the candidates when they can't even understand what they are saying ?  Union sheep, that's all they are. I was once a Union rep for SEIU, a very black mark on my resume.

On a side note you may find funny, Popeye. I listened to Coakley on Dan Shea radio program last night. She was talking about Rudy coming to support Brown and made mention that he was a Yankees fan. It was actually funny. BUT !!! She blew it, she went on to say Curt Schilling is a Yankees fan. She was asked twice if she was sure about that and she said yes, both times. Link to article below. Personally, it's no biggie to me, just funny. I could care less if a political candidate is sports aware.

MBMBN, lol, funny! Yeah, when you listen to her talk you don't get the impression that's she's very intelligent. She,....."struggles" with concepts. "Facts" seem to be a "problem" for her too.
A few years back John "French" Kerry told a rap performer that he was, "a big fan of rap!" The guy looked at him and asked which song was his favorite and he just froze! He didn't know any! lol That big horse face of his just went blank!
"Oh Love-ee, we like "rap", right?" I think that was right after he was, "going to get me a "hunting" lisence!" (the "rich" really are differant than you and me!)
I have a brother who's in the Teamsters there, the notorious "Local 25". They never answer your questions.
"Hey Big Chris, who ya voting for?"
"Who the fuck you think I'm voting for?"
"I was just wondering."
"Who the fuck are you voting for?"
"I can't vote in Mass."
"Why you asking stupid fuckin' questions then?"
"You guys have a nice "Cadillac" healthcare plan right?"
"What fuckin Cadillac healthcare plan you talking about?"
"You know, with the Teamsters."
"What the fuck about the Teamsters, I'm a member, so what?"
"I was just wonder..."
"Wonderin' what? You taking a fuckin' survey or something?" "Well I'm not home, goodbye!"
Him and Joe Ligotti "The Guy From Boston", also a teamster are big buddies. Gee, I wonder what Joe has to say about the election?

popeye1250 -> RE: The Kennedy Seat (1/16/2010 2:55:20 PM)

Holy shit!
I just went into youtube to see if "The Guy from Boston" had anything to say about Brown and right at 1:01 if you freeze it and look at Rudy G's face right above it at 1 o'clock is *my brother!!!*
They're at a rally in the N. End. I guess I know who he's voting for now!
"What fuckin' rally you talkin' about?"

Music, I don't think so, they were talking about it on the news a few days ago.
I guess it was supposed to be more or less a "surprise".
I think one can safely say that when they lose the Unions the Democrats are in deep kimshee.

Well, if anyone read Mushashi, SunTzu, Clausewitz and so on, and looked at military history they would be considering what the Japanese call ku as well. In my case it is happening, just as I said, in your case, it remains to be seen.

Neither here nor there, in the end it is what it is, even if you are right or wrong in your estimations.

Considering that Ted was trying to change the rules on the fly from his deathbed and have his predecessor appointed rather than elected I think this is probably the best case scenario. I'm really quite surprised that some minion from the Kennedy compound wasn't thrust forward to compete for the seat.

TheHeretic -> RE: The Kennedy Seat (1/17/2010 1:43:56 PM)

President Obama just had his speech for Martha pretty well disrupted for a couple minutes.  I am looking forward to seeing how this election comes out.

The Repubs are playing it as a referendum on healthcare, and the Dems are getting their talking point ready to throw Martha under the bus as an awful candidate.

popeye1250 -> RE: The Kennedy Seat (1/17/2010 1:51:31 PM)

It all comes down to who *The People* want in that seat.

McCain threw himself under the bus with his stance on illegal aliens and when he said that "all those jobs overseas aren't comming back" in MICHIGAN!
