John Edwards admits fathering 2-year-old daughter of campaign worker

Former Democratic presidential hopeful John Edwards admits in a written statement to NBC that he is the father of a 2-year-old daughter by Rielle Hunter, who worked as a campaign videographer.

In his statement, Edwards acknowledges the affair and tells NBC News that he is taking responsibility for the child, Frances Quinn Hunter:

"I am Quinn's father. I will do everything in my power to provide her with the love and support she deserves. I have been able to spend time with her during the past year and trust that future efforts to show her the love and affection she deserves can be done privately and in peace."

It still doesn't matter to anyone except Edwards, his wife, the child and the child's mother.

Oh I am sure he will be hammered for it. It is just terrible behavior. If only he had diddled a senate page or played footsie in an airport restroom.............

It mattered when there was a possibility of him being elected. I'm quite sure Elizabeth Edwards thought she had a conventional monogamous marriage. He broke his word to her. I find that very important.

Show me a politician that hasn't lied, broke his word, and I will eat my favourite riding horse. Most of our historical 'Greats' have been proven to have been some of the worst.

I especially do not give a shit what they do with their dicks and vaginas. I care about what sort of job they can/are, doing.

The guy's career is down the toilet.

Personally, I don't give a flying duck's fuck who John Edward's been fucking and fathering. But to the conservative media, of course, such matters are of the utmost importance (except, again, when one of their own is caught dipping his dick in some uncontracted waters).

I don't mean to imply that it's my business that he had an affair. I personally don't care who does what to whom. If he and Elizabeth hosted parties at Plato's retreat, I don't care. Once it's come to light, I find it important only in that he did NOT keep his word. I know politics are full of compromise. If he made a vow and didn't keep it, I find THAT important and it speaks to his character.

Elizabeth has spoken of the pain her mother had endured from infidelity and was very clear in her expectations of John's actions when she agreed to marry him. She expected monogamy.

Best part is that Edwards only came clean on the eve of a book coming out that implicates him - not that anyone believed his lies before.
