I know it's wet! What is going on in your area?

In mine it is the leading story of the day. It is cold here and rainy and flooding all over..

No floods yet(well not in JT any way), just off and on raining for the past week, was able to do some roof work on a house monday through wednesday cause it's normally "clear" in the morning, but today we got morning storms too. I expect this weekend we'll see some flash floods(in the washes like always), but that's bout it...
and it's finely feeling kinda like winter, it's dropped down to the forties and fifties during the day, don't know what it is at night..cold thou cause the clouds normally clear out round night time, and clear nights means cold nights(clouds hold in some heat)

The storms have been an adventure.  We lost power for ten hours the other night.  (Four PM to two AM.)  On top of that, our gas went out, so we had no heat for the damp chill.  I've had internet on and off, but it hasn't been reliable.  I'll be glad to see the sun come out again.  LOL.

I grew up in Oregon.  We call a series of nasty, chilly, all day storms like this, "November."  It's just that here in the desert, there is very poor drainage.

The prediction was for it to turn to snow in the high desert about 4:00 this afternoon, but it's still just rain at 10:00 p.m.  It might be white out there in the morning, or just still gray.

Good evenings for spagetti, or chili and cornbread.

The ground is so saturated around here that power poles are just toppling over.

Snow is down to 2,000 to 3,000 feet above sea level in my area (my town is 350 feet).

I fell asleep early tonight around 8:30 p.m. and just woke up around 10:30 p.m. the lightening has been really bad all night. It just went off again really loud to the point my hand was on my headboard and i felt the vibration. It kept going and finally at 11:03 p.m. I heard another really loud boom. I turned over to look at the time and everything has been knocked off.

I got my flashlight and went around and reset my clocks. There are going to be a lot of people late tomorrow for work.

Now if i can find my wind up clock with the bell chimes just in case......

Last night the lightening and thunder was bad also. This is rare for us as we are considered coastal area.. In 20 years i can only think of 4 times it has been bad.

Whoo! Just had a 20 minute deluge that was loud enough to make me go check, just to be sure it wasn't hail hitting the roof. Ah, the joys of microclimates!

Power outages throughout this area, highway accidents, road closures, fallen trees, flash flood and high surf warnings.  The lightning, thunder and hail were exciting 2 days ago.  The cat is finally adjusting to all the noise and has stopped trying to climb up my back to on top of my head.

Stay safe out there everybody, remember your candles, matches and camping stoves.

That was me banging on the door, but there was no answer.

Looks like you missed out on a deluge of a different kind.

Thought I was back in NJ during summer; thunder lightning, and heavy rain. I got to see some of our decorative yard rocks migrate down the driveway. We were hanging out on the balcony looking for waterspouts in Bay. Didn't see any, but it was an amazing view. Quite the contrast to the usually blue sky and calm water.

Glad its this week and not next week when we'll be heading for Vegas. It gets crazy driving through the mountains in ice/snow.

Since when did California become the beef capitol of the US???

As for the OP. Here in the midwest we get a lot of heavy rains, thunderstorms, tornados, etc during the spring. The difference is that a.) we are used to it and b.) more importantly, we do not have the geography I remember much of California having. I hope that all of you do not suffer some of the landslides I've seen in the past out there.

We have lots of cattle here, and they are usually the prime variety that they make black angus out of
