After a year of disappointing progress towards the change that was expected I contend that Obama has failed so far only due to a degree of naivity on his part that compares well with the scale of expectation placed upon him.

I contend that it has been his collegiate approach - something which may have served him well previously - that has undermined him as president, a position in which strong leadership rather than a cooperative approach is expected.  I contend also that this approach on his part has not served to change the approach of others in congress, who have rather seen it as a green light to continue, indeed heighten their partisan self interested behaviours, the culpability for which when the American people observe it, is perceived to lie at the White House frontdoor.

I contend also that we may expect to see real change at the White House on this account in the very near future. A change in approach towards telling rather than asking, instructing rather than suggesting, directing rather than proposing. In other words I contend Obama has learned a great lesson - that a strong leader is respected and criticised only for his failures, whereas a weak leader is regarded as a joke and condemned for every failure that others might pin to him.

Obama was elected due to widespread public anger and the perception that he was a new broom in a deeply divided nation. In trying to sweep clean, changing the business as usual agenda, he has run aground as the congress refused change and went back to its everyday ways. Obama will no longer put up with this rubbish, just as the people will not; he is not foolish enough to ignore the ongoing malaise.

I contend that the change that was expected is coming, by way of a change in approach that will make heads spin - first and foremost in the Democratic party in the congress.

E

The nation is simply center-right....not left...not socialist...nor willing nor wanting big government solutions.....what the nation wants is FREEDOM...economic freedom...regulatory freedom...and financial freedom.... Government is primarily the agent of only those things that cannot be done by the states...like a military to protect us or the interstate highway system.... nothing more... We don't want a 'powerful' president or congress...we want their guarded stewardship of our national security, with little interference in our every day lives.... If Obama is smart, he will now know...until the next election, he will pass NOTHING thru the US Senate...period....  we are in a waiting period.... the democrats have another chance to sell their agenda to the electorate...if they prevail, then Obama will have two additional years to enact his agenda....if they lose (which is almost a massive certainty)...then it would be wise for the democrats to shit down...shut up...and vote or not.... frankly we don't care what they do....but being quiet would be very very desirable from an electorate that is TIRED of hearing about their convulated socialist dream....it just ain't gonna happen ....and that is EXACTLY what is happening....  they had a shot, and blew it big time..... sorry bout their luck...but reality is here...in spades after losing the senate seat in the people's republic of MA....and if they can't win there...they are going to get SLAUGHTERED in the rest of the country come next November...deal with it leftwingers.....

Give me a poll that shows center right.

Give one NOT run by FOX news.

socialism, bla bla bla bla, Hitler bla bla bla bla I love my country bla bla bla bla.

Christ you folks are tiresome.

You DO realize that every time you criticize the president, you are allowing the terrorists to win right?

You DO realize that by criticizing the President you are not supporting the troops, right?

No they get criticized largely for caving. In July 63% of Americans supported sweeping health care reform.

The Bills present now are not that.

They also get criticized by kuncklehead teabagging dumbasses We live in a country where Glen Beck is an icon.

It embarrasses me

Obama is a leftwinger like I'm having my cock sucked by Alysson Hannigan while typing this.
Do you have any idea what a tit this constant blather about socialism makes you look?

That sounds ominous. Do Homeland Security know about this?

Actually I am more happy with Obama than any other part of our government. He needs to reevaluate having Rom Emanuel as his sidekick though

Look, I'm sure your mate Chapman is a nice enough bloke, but the only way Obama is going to be leaving as president before the elction in 2012, is if somebody kills him. Which will put Joe Biden in charge. I doubt that even the teabaggers are looking forwards to that possibility.

Really? I got the impression that the lefties are even more pissed off with the guy than the right leaning idiots like the more embarrassing bits of this board.

Because the Supreme court is reviewing his  citizenship status. ..and July is when they get to it.

I compare Obama to the senate at this time, and he wins....

Not saying I approve of his job, and I hope he will get better people around him... if he doesn't do this soon I will not vote for him again.
