Would you say that there is a high percentage of people on here who have never had a real time encounter or done anything much in the way of real time, but have great imaginations?

If so, what are some things that make you think that when when you read a profile or a post?

Yes.

Lack of correct terminology, few mentions of real life experiences (or contradictions about said experiences), no mentions of their D or s type in their lives, etc.

Just wondering if there is any difference from what you want to do and have done. Imagination makes the world go round and all must take a first step. Is there something wrong with people new to the lifestyle...you were at one time.

No need to over react I was just adding to the thought...nothing personal...just there is no basis for your post unless you do think there is something wrong.

I find the ones that have little experience are the ones who are new enough to think everything they do is somehow special and above the rest. First time syndrome. My sister in-law and I had our first children 6 months apart. Mine was first and by the time hers came my daughter was 6 months old with stinky poop. My sister-in-law said, "yuck, your baby diapler smells terrible. Mine never smells like that." New baby.. no stench. I was happy to point out the smell when her child was 6 months old.
The ones that have no experience except cyber are more likely to pose unrealistic values.

I find that the ones that have had no r/t experience are the ones that seem to want to experience everything in a short amount of time without any real training, and the threads to seem to be more mature the last couple days......

Hmmmm...let's see. Oh I know, I actually have a conversation with someone and ask them if they have ever had a real time encounter or experience.

I don't "guess".

I agree with all you have said except for the last word...I don't think it is unrealistic values but expectations.

Umm - wanting to be caged 24/7 would be my best indicator of cybergeek/bdsm person.

I agree. That or a headcase. Also being willing to do anything or otherwise not caring what happens to her. Granted there are some people out there that really do feel that way but generally its an indication of a cybergeek. Also anything involving the girl wanting to go on cam ten seconds after you start talking to her, asking for msn/yahoo/etc... right away. Asking questions that are already answered in your profile. Offering to 'be your slave' after the first email or two (I mean wtf?! can't people on here just TALK and be FRIENDS sometimes or at least for awhile before bringing stuff like that up.) and pretty much anybody who has 'SuperDom is my mentor and is screening my messages. be nice to him' kind of bs.

I wouldn't venture to guess how many, if the percent is high or low or not. I honestly feel that would make me a huge jackass, drawing some worthless line in the sand regardless what is real and what "proves" it.

For the most part, I tend to take people at the word - at least on the forums until I'm given reasons to think I shouldn't. That doesn't mean I don't question or point out things they don't agree with.

Really, the only things that make me think "Wow... um... how long have you been doing this really?" are the breeder PMs I used to get about wanting to keep me constantly knocked up. I suppose you could the wank e-mails in this catogory. I still wouldn't venture to hazard a guess though as I haven't spoken to a tenth of the people on this site.

ETA - I suppose I just ignore the profiles that don't catch my interest, dismiss the spam e-mails and pay attention to the folks on the forums or those that manage to catch my interest and ignore the rest. Just doesn't really bother me.

The ones that seem most interested in the amount of experience their partners have seem to be the least experienced of all. Those who do a thing do not need to push themselves forward as "experienced", people can usually tell that they are

I would say the percentage of people on the forums with real-time experience is probably higher than the people on the other side.  And that's even after accounting for the guy on this side that keeps posting seemingly hypothetical questions that are merely designed to bolster his bizarre idea of what a submissive should be, which remarkably enough, resembles a robot.  I doubt any of his experience is real-time, unless you count his time with his own hand.

What about getting to know a sub/slave, establishing their validity, developing a rapport, and THEN finding out they want to be caged 24/7.

I remember at one point strong advice being given to leave out a mention of how 'new' one was in one's profile and elsewhere to supposedly protect against some sort of piranha that would jump at this tidbit.

The odd thing is that I don't really think about it, nor do I care one iota.

What matters to me is their honesty, ability to place, or imagine placing, their fantasies, into a real life setting. Realistic expectations. Common sense. To look beyond the kink and see the human beings enjoying the kink, and show an understanding of what that means.

Myself, I haven't a lot of BDSM experience at all and I am very honest about that. It doesn't matter to me. What I do have is life experience. Common sense. The ability to see how kink will, and will not at times, work for me. I have mucho experience building solid, long lasting relationships. I am good at making decisions based on the good of all involved, not just what sounds like fun for me at the moment. These are things I talk about because they apply to all relationships.

Power exchange is something I've been doing my entire life. It is easy for me to participate in discussions relating to that.

You will not see me giving, in depth, knowledgable posts about most aspects of BDSM play because I know my own limitations. I also know that if I was going to attempt anything I wasn't 100% sure of myself doing without screwing it up, I will ask for help from someone I know for a fact, knows what they are doing. Again, a quality I view as far more important than simply saying I know and getting someone hurt in some way.

I think there are far more people that have not had experience than have. Some of those people are realists and others (especially cyber chatters) live in la la land and to be honest they are in for a shock if they ever dare to venture out of that fantasy bubble.

I also think there are a lot of people on here that only see in black and white and have unrealistic expectations of how things should be and they, I feel, are the ones that have had little or no real life experience. Then again they could well be actors within a dominant or submissive role and just never able to connect on a deeper level than kink.

i'm a selfish son of a bitch more interested in me than her, and that's what she should want lol

Oh you'll be fine I reckon. I'm sure that there are quite a few subs who's like that kind of relationship too.

<chokes on coffee> I think I've just fallen a little bit in love with you.

On another site I visit occasionally, they have a facility that allows you to identify people (with their consent) as people you've met online and as people you've met face to face - It's quite a good indicator, and does a pretty good job of providing references too...
