Is it ever acceptable for a Dom to Cry?

What a ridiculous question.

Anyone who feels that Masters are above and beyond being human is living in a fantasy, in Our opinion.

Our guess is that, for you, this stems from the notion that, "real men don't cry," given that you're male (and, especially from the South where macho "tough guys" are prized). When you work through one, you'll most likely work through the second.

As it is a natural emotional reaction, I can't imagine why it would be unacceptable. Now, if he started sobbing like a baby at the drop of the hat, I would wonder if he needed counseling of some sort.

hejira92 -> RE: Crying (1/25/2010 12:23:54 PM)

The first time I saw Master well up, I remember feeling unsettled that my incredibly strong Master was crying, but I was taken with His ability to let Himself be real on all levels.

Since then, I have held Him as He bawled the night before one of His closest friend's funeral, cried with Him as we faced our fears when I was diagnosed with cancer, and seen His eyes fill with emotional tears as He's described to me how His life has changed with our relationship.

So, yes. A Master can cry. It demonstrates a whole human being.

I wouldn't have have Him be anything else.

DominusJ -> RE: Crying (1/25/2010 1:37:11 PM)

Ofc it's ok for a Dom to cry.
For example, how should a Dom react if something tragic happen to his life-partner sub, laugh it away?

whiteslavebitch -> RE: Crying (1/25/2010 1:59:17 PM)

Without reading any other replies: Yes, if the circumstances call for it. As on the death of someone you're especially close to for one example. I would be worried if a Dominant couldn't cry under that kind of circumstance.

Jeffff -> RE: Crying (1/25/2010 2:14:25 PM)

I laughed at the end of Steel Magnolias.

Am I too sensitive?

It depends on why he's crying. If he's crying like a chick because of something girlie then I'd have to dump his ass.
If he's crying because of a life altering moment then I'd probably like him even more.

KnightofMists -> RE: Crying (1/25/2010 3:14:02 PM)

And thus proves the other side- A Dom must laugh as well.

Hmm, sounds like the best Masters master ALL their emotions.

krazykatelyn -> RE: Crying (1/30/2010 10:20:27 PM)

Heh, you remind me of a young kid who thinks that their parents can't cry because they are "grown-ups". Of course doms can and do cry; they're human after all.

ResidentSadist -> RE: Crying (1/31/2010 1:16:05 AM)

I cry often, especially after reading some of the threads here at Collorme!

But I'm not a Dom, I'm a sadist Master.

Yes....and my Dom has cried in my arms when he was dealing with alot of intensity going on in his vanilla life concerning his divorce from his ex wife.  Remember, a Dom is first and foremost a man.  That is where all lifestyle issues must be put aside and the man I love needs his woman to be there for him in a moment of vunerability.  It in no way diminishes my respect for him as my Dom , in fact it takes a great deal of courage to be so vunerable.  This is when the trust factor comes into play and goes very deep.

CNJDom -> RE: Crying (2/4/2010 10:39:11 PM)

Geez....I'm not gonna cry around this crowd!  I'll just suck it up and hold it in.  Hope you don't mind the quivering lower-lip thing.  But seriously, it's understandable that in our society; we feel that it is generally not masculine to cry or show emotions up to that level.  Born and raised in the Deep South, I remember growing up that not only did you not cry; but also being told to use a lower tone in my voice (of course I was 9 at the time...so it was a little unrealistic of a request).  The images of what is macho in our country and western civilization, doesn't really include crying.

When the "pussification" of mankind started happening where a witch hunt of sexual harassment charges led to scores of men becoming "sensitized" over ANY infraction real or otherwise to the point where a generation had become too scared to talk, to fearful to show anything that could be skewed as being threatening or chauvinist/sexist in nature.  This led to where we are today.  Are we improved?  I read an article where now more woman can't stand that sort of pussified man.  The sensitive and emotional man is taking a back seat to the rebel bad-boy (which really has been the case throughout history hasn't it?), and this may be changing.  I think that things went to far.  Who is to blame?  I can't point any fingers per se, but this problem is real, and for the nearly 20-years of pussification (I love that word for some reason) that has been the societal accepted norm, it's going to take some time for this to balance itself back out.  I just hope we never over do that again!  We hit rock-bottom when James Bond started crying and showing his emotions...disgusting!  Let's not have this tragedy repeat itself.  Please....
