Merc, you do have a way with words. At any rate, my understanding is that natures cure for deforestation or desertification is flooding. Especially with sea water, which contains the nutrients needed in the soil. This takes some time. I think that's why alot of people live in flood zones or on coastal land. The fertile soil. So what every so many years you have to build another house ? Personally I would've moved after the first flood, but then I am not a farmer. The shame of it is that the almighty dollar still prevails. It brings me back to a book I read a very long time ago called Infernoland, which was a paperback loosely based on Dante's Inferno. It described hell, and in that realm were two politicians on opposite sides of an issue. The "first person" asked the guide or whoever why they were both here with their anuses reconnected to their mouth so when they talk only shit would come out. The answer was that they both thought they were wrong. I still hold my stance on the matter. Global warming might be occurring. We might be contributing to the process, but I doubt our effect is very profound. Nonetheless, there is no practical way to remove our influence on the envirnment at this time. I don't care about the smugness of AC manufacturers who might look forward to increased sale in the future, nor the dismay of big oil, seeing a slight drop in their income due to this phenomenon. They only care about them fucking selves and it has always been that way and it always will be. Oil companies would probably cause an ice age if they could. But AC manufacturers would like to see it get as hot as Vulcan. Business as usual. T
