Thank you, so very much Nihilus. and you're right, i was speaking of people who come on when one word is mispelled or one period is out of place and they crucify that person. To be fair i have not seen that recently for a lot of those people are now gone. A ;ot of nice people are on here now.

Lord knows, I cant type and i dont punctuate correctly either. If someone snipes, snipe back. Give thoughtful posts ,but joke up bit too. But most importantly, stick around and dont take anything personally. The people I have had a scuffle with, I end up having a special place of the love and respect for them in my heart.

Pretty damned impressive to do over the interweb cables and all.

So...what? Do you want me to dance in suspenders across the thread to make it a bit more unique? [:D]

Ummm.. if you do, can we get video? [:D]

To the OP- The mods have given us a cool little button marked "hide". Since it seems that you have an issue with certain posters, why not just hide them so that you don't see their posts?

My advice is to move on to something more meaningful to you.

I don't think she was branding all punctuation pedants (myself included) as wackos or trouble-makers.

And, this topic is certainly more thought-worthy than plenty of stuff that pops up on here. We may as well tell half the forum's OP's to find something more meaningful.

Well punctuated.

But seriously I'm getting deja vu. There have been 'Threads about threads' aplenty lately, from the asinine to the genuine ( as I believe this mostly is). The ultimate answer is always - If you don't like it...etc etc

It's filling a vacuum. It seems like the lull before the next idiot. I really think half the forum's OPs SHOULD find something more meaningful. I think there should be a limit on how many threads one person can start. I think there should be a cooldown period before you can start another one. I think all the women in my office should bow to me every morning, but unfortunately not all my wishes come true.

I'm inclined to agree with you. Maybe we should start a thread about that. [;)]

Pst... put enough rips in the carpet so that they trip. It's mostly the same thing as them bowing. [:D]

Brilliant. I knew I had you on my team for a reason. Do I have to help them up? Or while they are down there....

Is this public harem play? Can I put a little cage under the water fountain?

Now you see, Office D/s would be a good thread (and I'm not searching for it)

And, just to illustrate that sometimes there may be no reason not to lambaste a thread and its OP...

i was wondering what your first thought is when you read posts from people who :

Everything they say is in a mean or sarcastic way

I'm guilty of the occasional put-down or sarcastic remark - I really really try not to, but if someone says something particularly stupid (through my snippy and judgmental lens <- something I'm working on) I can't stop myself.

There are some people who only ever post snarky, offensive, remarks - and my immediate reaction is to think "JACKASS".

quote:

They put down everyone and slam people for making a puncuation mistake.

I'm not especially nerdy about things like punctuation, or the odd typo - But there are times when someone appears to be so illiterate that I wonder how they even managed to switch a computer on.

quote:

They always try to start arguments or constantly coming on with a joke to throw a great thread off track.

Do you get mad or do you do like i do and feel sorry for the ones who do that?

What do you think their reasons are for acting this way? thanks

Personally - I think my adverse reaction to some posts is driven by resentment - the fact that some people invest a lot of time in writing thoughtful, considered and literate responses to posts means  that when someone takes the piss I feel as if they've deliberately wasted my time.

juliaoceania -> RE: Since i can't read anyone's mind at least not yet (1/25/2010 6:04:17 AM)

I had an email from someone recently that jabbed me for being in school for so long (as if he knew how long I had been in school). He jabbed me for having incomplete sentences in my journal. He jabbed me for writing a one sentence journal. He jabbed me for being here and not dating. He jabbed me for not having a photo..

I just sweetly replied... um... please do not email me again..

Some people are just trolls

Help them up if they skinned their knees. Assign them to cubicles with roofs and you've got an insta cage.

Jeffff -> RE: Since i can't read anyone's mind at least not yet (1/25/2010 6:38:12 AM)

Here is the flip side, and I am NOT calling the OP  out.

Why do people think they can post anything they want and not have it be commented on?

Why are people surprised when something stupid, (yes that is a judgment) is posted and then get slapped for it?

Why don't people take responsibility for their posts?

Love

Jeff
