Trick question!!

They have a QUEEN, duh.

What a maroon, hahahahahaha

Moonhead -> RE: Nice and simple..... (1/25/2010 1:45:31 PM)

The contrast between Europeans talking about American politics and Americans talking about European politics is often quite depressing...

Cameron wins it by around 40 seats. Unelected Gordon will soon be unelected again.

If he gets back in, life will be over and I may as well move to the Midlands. [8D]

I don't know what bug crawled up your ass but it doesn't involve me, so please leave me out of it.

Oh man... I can't resist, sorry [&:] ... Here goes *koff koff koff*:

Your sense of humor seems to have gone on sabatical the last couple of days.

Psst.  Is it that time of the month?  Because if it is, allowances can be made (I'm a reasonable gurl).

Hey, I just had another idea for one of those signs (ya know, from that other thread):

"He's a mouthy brat who needs to be bitch slapped around a little."

You reckon? I was thinking we'd end up with a hung parliament, myself.
The fucking BNP will get at least one constituency, probably in Stoke.

I cant see the BNP getting a seat in Stoke, even after saturdays March. My guess would be if they get a seat anywhere it will be in Burnley.

Moonhead -> RE: Nice and simple..... (1/25/2010 4:05:17 PM)

They've got four or five council seats, though and I think one of their MEPs is for Stoke as well. Somebody in the potteries is voting for the stupid bastards...

Ah, the guy's seems to be raggin on me and I don't know why. It's a shame. I've had great respect for him and his opinions from the beginning. I don't see the humor in the bit of Welsh but then I don't speak Welsh An internet translation into English is nearly as unintelligible - something about "in the end, you.” If there is a joke in there it went above my head - which I suspect was the intent. That doesn’t bother me in and of itself. I don't mind being the butt of a joke now and then. I like to poke fun at myself. I'm a firm believer that if you can't laugh at yourself, then you have no business laughing at other people (and I enjoy laughing at other people). Apparently he was offended by my fashion statement joke (a bit of a sting to ethnic pride perhaps?) and for what was admittedly a lame joke (but lame jokes have their place in society - I wonder what would have happened if went with the Scottish joke I was originally going to go with?).

Here is what I do not understand about people. On second thought, never mind. It’s that special time of the afternoon [8D] and I could so easily go into a dissertation on human nature and the limits of knowledge – but I’ll spare us both.

You are right about one thing though, it is that time of the month for me. The time when all the bills come due – and it does tend to make me cranky. [:D]

So what was this thread about?

Marc2b -> RE: Nice and simple..... (1/25/2010 5:11:55 PM)

So what's the RESPECT party all about? Who do they want respect for? Do they respect anybody?

Hanging parliament would be ideal..off the bridge would be nice....

DCWoody -> RE: Nice and simple..... (1/25/2010 5:18:30 PM)

@Moon, Aye
@Polite, He was elected by parliament, same as all the others, quit ya moaning :p

I'm not sure the BNP'll manage a seat, they're likely to make a good solid push for Griffin.....but don't think they'll manage it. UKIP are apparently having major financial worries, but have good public support as a protest vote....greens may have been damaged by the recent weakening of human global warming theory they've tied too strongly to, but in Brighton they're the sort that the 'doubt' will only have increased their fervour I suspect.

Hung parliament could theoretically be the preferable option.....most everyone would in reality like some combination of different party policies....it's tricky to see how it'd work though. National Unity gov won't happen, so lib dems.....and who? their supporters tend to be more laboury, but leadership is closer to cons, and browns unpopular if he stays lab leader, and his alleged people skills don't bode well for an alliance.....but so many high up libs (and others tbh) view cameron as just a slimy PR bastard....and cons are dead set against proportional representation which libs would demand.....maybe there's an outside chance of lab/socialdems/SNP scraping together enough seats....but that'd be incredibly unpopular I reckon.

If the result is a hung parliament, I see another election pretty soon after, with the electoral reform debate coming into sharp focus. Then again, mebe Brown'll get the shove even if he manages to get a strong lab hung parliament, and then lib-lab pact all the way....

DCWoody -> RE: Nice and simple..... (1/25/2010 5:28:09 PM)

@Marc, my Welsh is fairly limited, but I reckon a more accurate translation would be 'dumb in the head, you'
RESPECT....matches quite well with what americans mean when they say 'liberal'. Socialist, pro-EU integration, environmental, very touchy feely on race issues...etc. Won their seat mostly on anti-war (Iraq) feeling....have been chasing the Muslim vote ever since.

Oh yeah, I remeber that from the movie "The Englishman Who Went Up a Hill but Came Down a Mountain." something pronounced "tup" or "toop" and apparently meaning dumb or slow. Well, at least I know what Philo thinks of me now. I don't know why he couldn't have told me that in English.

Sounds like one of those good hearted but unneccesarily loud and oft-putting groups.

Eh, that just wasn't my impression. He had been raggin on me in another thread and it just seemed liked he was carrying it over for some reason that I couldn't fathom.

Whatever. I'm too mellow now to be irked by it.

Yep.  Ya'll usually can't get a full page of us commenting on yours.  It's like Europeans are obsessed with us or something.

How about; I hope the UK voters choose wisely.

Well we have an incumbent government that's unfit to govern, a party that's been in opposition that's unprepared to govern and another party that nobody trusts to govern.

Chances are we'll do what we normally do and elect whoever Rupert Murdoch tells us to elect and whine and bitch about it for five years.

I'm confused...you mean the Australian born American citizen living in the US influences UK elections? How ironic is that?

Butch

That, or European posters are interested in what's going on outside their borders while American posters... just aren't interested (unless it involves, in that order: guns, Islam, immigrants, abortion)  [8D] .
