I think he was positively engaged, considering how his first post was a vent about fakes, and then his next post was a demand for people to take his advice. The only thing that kept his posts from going the way of all other vent/rant/demand posts, is he didn't get offensive when called on it, and edited this post to reflect the more positive tone, he'd intended.

Sad truth is, here on the internets (even the forums, yes, on CM and Fetlife, for sure!) , I've encountered a lot of people who are "taken" or otherwise attached in RL and hiding it, married or those who are living "double lives".. Hell, there are a lot of people whom I've encountered who seem to think that's okay! I make it a part of my screening process when I'm getting to know new people.

There are also some that may have one or more people in their lives but they and are fairly clear and honest about it. Sometimes it's difficult to know the difference, so some amount of vigilance or skepticism is understandable, especially if over a long distance. There are a lot of people who just aren't that honest.

Personally, I've found with those who already have a significant other in their lives to have a high potential to get complicated and full of drama, and that's just what I don't want. I would only consider being involved with them only if the relationship seemed stable, communicative, and if they were totally honest with the people in their lives. This begins with, but is not limited to their interactions with me.

Knowing what you're getting into is a good idea, and if the waters just don't seem right, don't dive right on in.

Not to mention that the people who have found partners probably aren't using the site anymore, so they aren't on the boards and won't read this thread.

But John, if everything that is in the slightest less than optimal gets your knickers in a twist, you must spend a whole lot of time wound up.

People do shit, accept it and move on. It isn't worth getting upset over.

Ok and how is this any different from real life? Do you always know in person who is taken and who is not? Who is hiding someone and who is not? Who is single and who is not? You may know most of the time...same as here...but you won't always know..unless you ask.

I think you will find you will get more attention from this request if you place it in your journal.

When I first joined collarme, I browsed around for a couple minutes noticed that a lot of the people around me were taken and wandered off to another site. I happened to stop by a couple of weeks later, responded to my mail and that's how I met my sub. I've been posting on the forums ever since. So I have to disagree, while people certainly meet up and wander off around here it seems like there are plenty of people in relationships as well.

You got me! But I was pointing something out to him that he hasn't considered. And lets be honest, most of the regular posters are a minute fraction of the people on the other side. So ranting here won't reach people who are only there.

Must not be feeling sadistic tonight... hmmmm....

Anyway, my profiles still states I am actively seeking because I am. I have my partner (I do not use a title for him yet as has been agreed) who is alllllll dominant. I am switch. I still actively seeking for that elusive other side of the equation. It is a rare breed indeed who wants what I am "offering", so I know it will be a long journey. Also, I am always in search of friends, both near and far, with whom to communicate and hopefully visit socially now and/or in the future. I don't see any reason for folks to be done "searching" when they have found "the one", but for me it is about friendship and connection with others. Just my take.

Whoever decided that this thread about profiles on a BDSM website does not belong in "General BDSM Discussion", and thereby banished it to the black whole of foolish games, and whatever-the-hell-anybody-wants-to-yap-about, should be hung by their genitals until dead. If this thread doesn't belong in General BDSM Discussion, then every thread about profiles deserves to be removed and thrown into the pit of gobbledygook.

Welcome to CM :) Also, I believe I'd agree with you about the status change thing, were I looking.

Also, I agree with whoever said that they'd probably find it a bit insulting to their partner if it was left as still looking, again, aside from the poly thing. But normally that would be listed there as well.
