Very interesting question, and way to look at things. If that is the standard to use... has there been any convictions related to the original topic of this thread?

Is it a political persecution?

I asked questions and I asked for substantiation.. If you state something you shouldn't resent finding proof of your assertion... I mentioned that there could be a political motivation because ACORN helps poor people...

What is it they say? When the  tree is poisoned, all the fruit from the tree is poisoned too... and that is the reality, Jack, this okeefe dude is the poison, and all the fruit he has provided is poisoned too. Including with the footage that he may have tampered with (as the employees of ACORN claim).

Oh, btw, as domken pointed out, there is a difference between bad actors and a bad organization...

My issue is that you are asking for the conviction standard when judging ACORN, but dismiss it when it comes to this O'Keef (spelling). It would seem that you are the one accusing critics of ACORN of having a political motive against "poor people". I answered your question as honestly as could be answered.

There have been at least 12 convictions of ACORN members for voter fraud, and 6 others that plead guilty for numerous other election violations (all of which occured in 1 state and over a couple of election cycles - See ACORN Missouri). Well just to be certain, I looked it up, in addition to the ones already mentioned: in 2007 4 ACORN employees were indicted for fraud, and in 2008 eight more plead guilty to federal election fraud. (Again, these are just the ones in Missouri).

Want more from the top.... Christopher Edwards a former field director in Nevada plead guilty and testified against 2 others in higher management (their trials are still pending). Then look over to Pennsylvania who was running the same type of quota and registration scheme..... and on and on. It is really easy to seperate each one into individual incidents, but this is something occurring across the nation via one organization. Could simply be coincidence, or perhaps as you suggest "the whole tree is poisoned".

P.S. I noticed that both you and Ken glassed over the embezzlement and the coverup that occured by the founder and his brother. I would point out that I provided non partisan evidence of that.

They are desperate for more dead people and Disney characters to get registered in hopes of holding back the November deluge.

Especially considering the zeal Trace Gallagher at Fox news has with torturing 15 year olds.

You have an odd definition of "zeal". You want zeal? Waterboard the little fucker till he chokes on his own vomit.

Gee, I thought waterboarding wouldn't cause that.

Isn't that what we have been told?  That it's not torture?

Sounds to me like you have attended the Sean Hannity school of waterboarding hypocrisy.

Show me where I tried to change the subject... or where you can make the assumption that I am a right winger. You asked if there were any convictions of ACORN, in an attempt to deflect, so I asked if there had been a conviction of O'Keef. That is how we wound up down this road. Again, you wish to apply one standard to somebody you agree with, and another for those you disagree with.

Enjoy your position of morality, I shall continue to enjoy mine.

What you're glossing over is that ACORN officials turned in the people who were convicted of filing fraudulent voter applications. So quite obviously everyone at ACORN is not corrupt and actually did the right thing despite the fact that it would bring bad publicity.

Now let's examine a group the continues to qualify as corrupt from the top down by your own standard, that's right the GOP:

We have YPM and Mark Jacoby commiting vote fraud and being convicted of it
http://tpmcafe.talkingpointsmemo.com/talk/blogs/project_vote/2009/06/living-in-glass-houses-the-gop.php

Executive Director of the NH Republican party and a company called GOP Marketplace guilty of interfering in a federal election:
http://www.concordmonitor.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20040729/REPOSITORY/407290322/1043/NEWS01

Those convictions quite clearly affected more voters than all the Missouri convictions combined and since they involve people in leadership positions within the GOP it makes the case that o the two organizations the GOP is the truly corrupt organization and the one more heavily involved in voter fraud issues. Tha fact that in no case was it a GOP official who turned in the GOP bad actors compares quite unfavorably to ACORN as well.

Find me sticking up for anyone accused of law breaking behavior in my past postings...

I do not go to other threads supporting law breaking behavior...

And, yes, I like my moral compass... and I do not apologize for having one

edited to add... I want to discuss this case.. not acorn, not abortion, not 100 other things that people that support this trespasser are trying to deflect the discussion with.

An investigative journalist who is the object of all the rancor because he brought down the corrupt Acorn.

AnimusRex -> RE: ACORN pimp gets busted! (2/1/2010 8:59:53 PM)

OK, if we want to talk about ACORN and criminality, doesn't anyone think it is funny that the law that was passed to defund ACORN would , if acted upon, also defund nearly every military contractor, since nearly all of them have been found guilty of corruption or fraud?

Weird, huh?

But I gotta admit, the Republicans were all over this, being the strict law and order types. They were also all over the Dyncorp scandal, where military contractors in Bosnia were allegedly keeping 12 year old mistresses, and the KBR scandal, where a US serviceman- correct that, several servicemen- were electrocuted by shoddy electrical work in Afghanistan, and the Armor Group scandal where military contractors were drinking vodka out of each other's ass cracks, the Blackwater scandal where their guards gunned down 19 civilians, and of course the Halliburton rape scandal where Halliburton employees gang-raped a woman, then the company's sensitive HR staff held her in a shipping container for a day or so, telling her not to report it.

OK, ok, I am getting a bit carried away- the Republicans were all over the Halliburton one not to punish the company, but angry at Al Franken for bringing it to everyone's attention.

In Al Franken's defense, James O'Keefe woulda gotten around to it, but seems to have had other priorities.

P.S.
It has been brought to my attention that the Republicans had not one thing to say about any of these scandals. However, to be fair, they were probably going to get to it, right after they finished their health care reform package in 2035.

Bullshit, he is a little wannabe trying his hand at reality TV.

Even Breitbart disowned him in his latest attempt, then reversed himself.

But it is funny watching the spin.

This is what Andy said on Jan. 26th:

Breitbart on O'Keefe arrest: 'No knowledge about or connection to

Breitbart, in a statement to POLITICO, says that his site's not connected to whatever they were up to.

"We have no knowledge about or connection to any alleged acts and events involving James O'Keefe at Senator Mary Landrieu's office. We only just learned about the alleged incident this afternoon. We have no information other than what has been reported publicly by the press. Accordingly, we simply are not in a position to make any further comment."

Then Andy changed his mind today:

Breitbart: Phone Tamperer-Pimp O'Keefe Victim of Lefty Media-Fed

Right-wing political activist James O’Keefe arrested for entering the Louisiana federal offices of Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-LA) on false pretenses, with the intent to commit a felony, is portraying himself as a victim.

And he plans to appear on Fox News’ Sean Hannity to tell his side of the story, of why he entered the federal offices of a sitting U.S. senator under false pretenses and tampered with her phones.

And his employer, Andrew Breitbart of BigGovernment.com who pays O’Keefe a salary, appeared on Fox News on Monday to also cast O’Keefe the phone tamperer and ACORN pimp, as a victim of a lefty conspiracy waged by the U.S. Attorney’s office in Louisiana, the mainstream media and U.S. Attorney Eric Holder’s refusal to investigate ACORN.

Funny how the far left absolutely hates real journalists. Give them corporate news or government broadcasting and they're happier than flies on shit. Give them facts though, and they act like you're setting them on fire.

Don't upset their happy little world...

yeah all the cheer leading for this so-called wire-tapping prosecution. Once the video is released showing nothing even close to wire tapping occured I don't think we'll be hearing any outage about this abuse of the legal system from the majority of posters on this thread. This is quite simply the current corrupt administration telling someone that is a pain in the ass that he can be sent to jail or bankrupted at the government's whim via the legal system regardless of any merit in the government's case. You just watch how many delays and bullshit motions this government is going to bring about to drain the defendant of money. Unless of course, he apologizes and promises to never to criticize the party or it's chairman again.

And btw, Acorn wasn't brought down. It was defunded for 1 month only. You didn't really think Obama's brown shirt goon squad was going to suffer any permanent damage, did you, they still have direct access to everyone's wallet.

DomKen -> RE: ACORN pimp gets busted! (2/2/2010 7:06:23 AM)

Are people forgetting that the federal prosecutor who brought the charges against O'Keefe is a Republican appointed by GWB? Or perhaps the fact that O'Keefe has already confessed and is cooperating with the prosecution has been forgotten?
