Status: offline 		When was the election that ousted him. My memory is vague these days and am wondering if he has the right to become a lobbyist. In Texas a ousted senator or rep has to wait about 2 years before coming a lobbyist (needs to contact the county judge on this one since he is a former rep).

He wasn't voted out.
He'd promised to stand down after the last general election and let Brown take over, but he used the London tube bombing as an excuse to stay in power for another couple of years, then left in 2007.

Blair is confident that he's going to come out of the enquiry looking good as Campbell seems to be making an effort to carry the can for him.
The fact that he's a hideously arrogant prick who still seems to think that people believe everything he says even now is probably another factor, as well.
Mostly though, he's probably been invited to do this as he left power twelve months before the expenses scandal story broke. (Though he had stuck the taxpayer with an eight grand bill for having his roof tiles repointed as one of his last acts before leaving.)

Status: offline 		There are very few people taking this enquiry seriously.  If anything, it is simply an attempt to stop future PMs having presidential powers.
If Blair does this, then Labour would not get my vote at all.  He is a war criminal.  Nothing more.  Nothing less.

I dont know what new Labour are thinking, especially with the Iraq inquiry going the way it is. I think the Blairites are putting this rumour about, as I cant see it being Browns doing. Gone are the days of the likes of Nye Bevin, or even Benn and Skinner. Thats the crying shame of it all.

I don't think that would have worked either. Brown needed to have got into his position based on votes rather than the baton being passed, the fact that people are thick and seemed to believe he was directly responsible for the GLOBAL crash really hasn't helped him either.

It seems we will inevitably be conservative which really makes me want to cry. I wish that more people took an interest in politics rather than thinking all they need is their copy of the daily mail

To be fair to those terrible idiots the people, he was in charge of the budget under Blair, so he can't really plead innocence with a lot of conviction now that the Americans have wrecked the global economy.
I'd have a lot more respect for Brown (well, some respect anyway) if the lazy cunt had insisted that Blair kept his promise and fucked off back in '05. He's certainly owned nothing but contempt since then. At least when Cameron ushers in a new dystopia we might start getting better pop music again. I'll take Heaven 17 or Echo And The Bunnymen over all that britpop shit any day.
