I'm smart enough to realize that if corporations do well, then America does well and corporations provide jobs. So being anti corporation is the same as being anti American.

OK, there are only a small number of liberals who are "anti-corporation"; I myself work for a small corporation, and my specific duty is to make sure my division is profitable. So I, and most liberals, am very comfortable with corporations having the ability to be run efficiently, make money and employ people.
Sarah Palin, by the way, is very proud of opposing Exxon in its dealings with the state of Alaska; I doubt you would get many people saying she is "anti-corporation". Conservatives also railed against the Kelo decision, which gave private corporations the right to collude with governments to take peoples land.

But the genius of the Constitution was to see that power needs to be spread around, that too much power in too few hands is inherently corrupting; many of us are of the opinion that corporations hold too much power over our political system, and need to be countered with laws and regulations that establish a bulwark against their influence.

Finally, I could just as easily say that government provides jobs too, so being anti-government is anti-American.

What are you, from the 19th century?

A few things have happened since then.....

Not to mention that it's still, at least in theory, "a government of the people, by the people, for the people."

If we're doing a shitty job of staffing it, the fault is ours.

Here's what's funny. All these liberals who think CBS should air the gay superbowl ad are the same people who oppose the latest Supreme Court decision declaring that Corporations can produce political movies and ads.

So in effect, they unknowingly are saying that corporations should not be able to be politically active, but large organizations such as the Gay Alliance should be. Ironically, these same people think it's fine for Michael Moore a movie producer to continue to show only one side, the socialist side.

I'm smart enough to realize that if corporations do well, then America does well and corporations provide jobs. So being anti corporation is the same as being anti American.  I want to know who the corporations trust to make sure they do well, and that doesn't mean who they trust to bail them out. It means providing a level playing field, by changing free trade agreements into fair trade agreements, eliminating outsourcing, and going after employers who try to undercut the competition by hiring Illegal Aliens.

If corporations go bankrupt so does America. By the way, corporations were not responsible for this latest mortgage meltdown. Congress was by forcing them to loan money to poor people at the drop of a hat without verifying their incomes with their latest tax returns. Congress is also responsible for placing the big 3 in unfair market conditions worldwide, where there is no possible way they can produce a car cheaper than a 3rd world country can.

In case you haven't figured it out yet, the democrats promised you a middle class tax cut so they could get elected, because they knew they would be able to get even more money out of you in the long run through a multitude of back door taxes. Anytime they put a tax, fee or penalty on any corporation, small business, financial institution or energy company, eventually they have no choice but to pass that cost on to you. So essentially, the democrats are passing back door taxes, and the liberals have fallen for it.

Many people are fine with gays-  but there is a point of being overly pushy and can result into blowback.

I think the ad is antagonizing.      I doubt I would have run the ad myself.    (sorry)

Not completely Mm. Ever think just who chooses these candidates presented to us ? I can think of plenty of better people to have in there. They are not offered up. Big money decides, and big money wants to stay big money, so guess who we get ? Those who will help big money. That constitutes tyranny. Period.

Wrong, and it's been covered here in spades.

The Go Daddy commercial might have been offensive... to some gays. CBS probably really rejected it because it sucked. CBS lied bigtime about a certain recent ex president and is still in business after that. I don't think this flap about commercial programming is really going to cause them much grief.

The very fact that its been considered, has to be bringing them revenue
Smart PR and good for them,  I will be happy if it does.
That said I dont think it will be aired, not on super bowl anyway

It was a brilliant marketing move. Spend a little money to put a commercial together that you probably think won't be allowed on the super bowl. The story comes out you get a ton of exposure, and best of all, you don't have to pay that million dollar advertising fee, in fact, you pay no advertising fee at all. Some marketing company or executive deserves a public-outcry kind of bonus.

Its true. Despite the various attempts by various Liberal groups to squelch it, Fox News and CBS News (along with all Americans) still enjoy their right to practice free speech.
