When the site followed up on the status of the ad on Friday, January 22nd, they were told by CBS that “the spot hadn’t been officially approved yet" by network standards, and that "all the Super Bowl spots were sold out.”

However, a representative from the network told Pop Tarts that advertising spots were still open, and was unsure where that comment originated.

Maybe they can combine the two, ManCrunch and Pop Tarts?

EW, I think you hit on something.... a touchdown is thrown..... the qb pats the reciever on the ass on the way back to the sideline... a glance is exchanged. The roar of the crowd is suddenly hushed. Faintly, the strains of ZZ Top's "Back Door Love Affair" can be heard.....

Cut to commercial.

'Do you long to play on that 'Special' Team, but can't find the right guy....?'

They couldn't charge enough for the spot.

The very fact that its been considered, has to be bringing them revenue
Smart PR and good for them,  I will be happy if it does.
That said I dont think it will be aired, not on super bowl anyway

Damn.  I hope they get inundated by so many things like this that they say "Fuck all y'all.  No one is getting their P.S.A.'s on."

The superbowl is just as much about the awesome commercials as it is about the game.  I don't want to see dating site ads, anti abortion ads, or political ads of any kind.  I want to see clydesdales, dancing beer cans, coke and pepsi pulling out something new and awesome, hell... I'll even deal with the scantily clad women (although guys would work better for me, I'm not stupid, I know what their largest market is).  It's supposed to be a night of entertainment, not politics and all that shit.  Save that for the other 364 days of the year.

EDIT: To add:

Of course it won't be aired.

Family values and all that.

I mean we nearly had a conservative meltdown when Janet Jackson's tit accidentaly popped out.

Well, if you think about it, they're a perfect match for eachother, the two spots.  Nobody has fewer abortions than gays.

Has stupidity really reached all facets of society now ? Haven't they heard of targeting ads ? What's next, a Depends ad on a kid's show and Stretch Armstrong on Lawrence Welk ?

This is about as smart as putting Braille on a drive up ATM. While this is about dollars and sense (the latter of which seems to be in short supply) there is a side effect. Such an ad will put Gays right in their face, and those of their offspring. This will only serve to further alienate them from Gays, and be counterproductive in the end.

While they're wasting our money, why don't they put an ad for FDS on the Gay dating site ?

Mmmmmight be better if you don't answer that.........

So you're basically claiming homosexuals don't watch the Super Bowl. You might want to move past stereotyping soon.

The news piece is a stunt to push a ad venue that no one has heard of.

The stereotype has some truth to it- gay men tho will go to the Miss America pageant-

As to the product they are pushing craiglist has cheap encounters on it.

Maybe gay men will tune into 1//2 time- or per haps if the local team is in it.   Straight men could have a field day during hunting season- the first few days of it- there are no men anywhere.  The mall throws lonely ladies sales- so easy pickings- the lady of your dreams is at the mall- pick of the crowd during buck season.
