hawkmoonelric -> Classification--- common sense? (1/30/2010 11:46:42 AM)

I just performed a Search for submissive females who are seeking Dominant Men in the Washington DC area.

It was amusing to see someone pop up who stridently protests that she is owned.
Her blog post of 5/30 whines that she's tired of men not getting it, she protests that her
profile clearly states that she is "owned", and that she is NOT available.

Now, I'm not defending anyone for ignoring or disrespecting her status. On the contrary.

But, if you fail to correctly set your profile parameters, the only person you can blame is yourself for the bad search results at the other end.  All she has to do is switch her profile over to "Seeking Friends Only" and she'll stop showing up in the search results of available women.

Thanks for that.  You do realize you're preaching to the choir, right?

Since you are handing out free advice, let me return the favour.

Oops, My bad.

DesFIP -> RE: Classification--- common sense? (1/30/2010 12:05:53 PM)

Actually op, it doesn't matter what she sets her parameters as, she will still get come ons from men on this site.
I've set mine as seeking friends only since I've been on this site and I get a letter from a man wanting sex at least once a week.
And probably once ever two weeks from a man wanting to submit to me.

And the occasional email from a domme wanting a bi female. This despite the fact that I'm collared, and straight and make it clear I don't play with others.

The people who write aren't looking for available females but for all females within a couple/several hundred miles of where they are. Hell, I've gotten mail ordering me to abandon my children and The Man to come serve some couple. Like that's ever going to happen.

BeIgnited -> RE: Classification--- common sense? (1/30/2010 12:08:49 PM)

Trust me, that doesn't stop people from hitting on you.

peppermint -> RE: Classification--- common sense? (1/30/2010 12:13:08 PM)

My profile says I'm seeking "Friends Only" and in the first paragraph it says I'm owned and collared.  NOTHING, and I mean NOTHING stops the unsolicited offers from "Masters" who are too lazy to read said profile.

As for your complaint, it takes only 10 seconds to see that she's not interested and move on to the next profile.  People spend more time than that picking a piece of lint off their coat.

hawkmoonelric -> RE: Classification--- common sense? (1/30/2010 12:13:28 PM)

I'm sorry if I gave the impression that changing settings would eliminate all unwelcome
solicitations.

My point was that it is amusing to hear complaints from someone who hasn't
taken even the most-elementary steps to assure that her profile will only show up
on appropriate searches.

It appears to be rather a common complaint that women get unwelcome solicitations.
That is a rude waste of their time.

However, it's equally rude and equally a waste of my time if they're showing up in
my search results as available.....and the first thing they're saying
within the profile is "Fuck off, I'm Taken!"

RumpusParable -> RE: Classification--- common sense? (1/30/2010 12:14:49 PM)

Also, don't rely too much on the search parameters you put in, the search is rather whimsical here and will pull up people who don't fit the guidelines you put in.

I would ask for your money back that you paid for joining this site then.  Yep yep yep!

hawkmoonelric -> RE: Classification--- common sense? (1/30/2010 12:19:13 PM)

Peppermint, thank you for taking the trouble to put yourself in the right category,
I appreciate it.  I'm sorry you get unwelcome messages, and I don't defend
such behavior.

That said, it's hardly surprising.  It has nothing to do with laziness. Men are simply playing the odds. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Odds are, most women's profiles are out of date. Odds are, she broke up with her Dom two days ago.  Since the ratio is probably something like 1000 men to 1 available woman, this "shotgun" approach makes a sort of crude sense to some.

Everyone else's problems seem like a speck of lint.....until one day YOU get that speck of lint caught in your eye, and can't get it out.

Thank you, RumpusPrable.

I'm sure it's tough to construct an accurate filter.  Or, one that people can endure.
eHarmony was arduous to the point of being abusive.
Soul's Haven's kink-preference profile was comprehensive, but exhausting to complete, and the results-display was a bit ambiguous with matches.

Actually it is something that we say often here, and is said in good humour to lighten things up. As I mentioned earlier, have fun here and disregard all the crap.

You want talk about lint in your eye?

In my inbox this morning:

  • 3 images of men in chastity devices as attached pictures,
  • 5 emails from men in other countries asking if they may move to meet me to be my slave
  • a man in a thong showing me his ass asking me if I'd like to use it
  • someone local offering me money for a session...

... and that was before breakfast.

My profile is very up to date. It says exactly what I want. The reality is that very few read profiles. If I let myself get hung up on all this, I'd be one sad, sorry woman.

Edited because I actually wrote castration instead of chastity -- very telling! ;-)

LadyAngelika -> RE: Classification--- common sense? (1/30/2010 12:28:34 PM)

Oh I forgot to mention the email from Jefff to me saying that he's had a change of heart and finally wants to submit to me and kiss my feet ... ;-)

hawkmoonelric -> RE: Classification--- common sense? (1/30/2010 12:29:22 PM)

I wonder if it would be possible to create a filtering system.

For example, to prevent anyone who has set themselves as "looking" from ever seeing your "friends only" profile?

Or...to be able to report those who are sending solicitations to inappropriate categories?

Just some thoughts.
