Now, I've been trying to describe it as it was portrayed in The Fountain, with the fierce warrior/explorer knight kneeling before his Queen, but no one seems to have seen that movie. That is just lovely, Sir. I may have to steal your nicely painted image for my own selfish purposes.

The thing is, for the guy you were talking to, the "too serious" line is absolutely NOT a bunch of BS... but for you, maybe it -is- BS. The thing is, there really -is- no "norm". Heck, we can't even decide which things fit into BDSM and which things fit into D/s, and where lines cross... or even if there -are- any lines!

The important thing is for you to not settle... hold out for the relationship that allows you to fulfill -your- nature, and which, concomitantly, allows your Master to fulfill hir nature. Yes, it's going to take a while -- but if you're clear about who you are and what you want, and you stick to relationships that are going to nurture both parties by allowing you to both be who you are, it will be worth the time.
