Bill was somewhat redeemed in the last episode, but his campaign aspirations pretty much turn him back into an insensitive jerk. A strength of the show is how the characters come back, make amends, and take responsibility for their own poor behavior. (Bill with his daughter, Barb about the Sissy Spaced decision, etc.) Resiliency I would argue is a major theme of the show -- and this season is stretching the Hendricksons to the breaking point. Barb's confession to "Utah Women" about needing anti-depressives and living with imperfections, Nikki at the fertility clinic, Margene's immigration fraud, Bill running for office -- all extreme ways of trying to deal with their own polygamous situation. I'm curious if Sissy Spacek (Marilyn) is driven by some form of misandry, and I cannot imagine that she will find Bill's polygamy endearing. She's holding a grudge from he own past failed marriage -- which means she could be quite mean spirited going forward. Its been well quoted in the media lately that bad times make people meaner and more selfish, and if this holds true with Alby, we should all watch out.
