Interesting that he is so insulting, why insult them if you need them?

Glenn Beck Explains To Us Why The Teabaggers Are So Dumb

On his Fox News program yesterday Glenn Beck was asking his panel for one book that is a must read. The Federalist Papers were suggested...

If Beck wants a modern translation of The Federalist Papers, there are plenty of them out there. A translation is different than a rewrite. What Glenn Beck really wants to do is rewrite the essays so that they can be given a far right wing slant. Glenn did provide with an answer to why teabaggers are stupid. Much like Beck, they have no idea what they are reading.

I would like for Glenn Beck to contract a virulent strain of laryngitis. This would ensure he'd lose his bloody voice and stopped fucking yakking away talking pure bollocks.

You could always stop watching and/or listening to him.

You're okay with puff pieces from right leaning conspiracy theory blogs, then?

I don't choose to listen to him. I have to listen to him by proxy via other people. I had to ask my mother-in-law to talk about something else as she was waxing lyrical about him and his gold recycling business, and what a wonderful history teacher he'd make.

What the eff rofl? Beck, a history teacher? You might as well ask Palin to teach paleontology .

So the problem is that his message resonates with people you are close with? I understand that you disagree with what he is saying, but why wish some health issue on him or anybody else you disagree with?

Great to see that kinder, more accepting side of the left.

Ouch, Thadius, that a little disingenuous no?

"When I see a 9/11 victim family on television, or whatever, I'm just like, 'Oh shut up' I'm so sick of them because they're always complaining." –"The Glenn Beck Program," Sept. 9, 2005

. "Al Gore's not going to be rounding up Jews and exterminating them. It is the same tactic, however. The goal is different. The goal is globalization...And you must silence all dissenting voices. That's what Hitler did. That's what Al Gore, the U.N., and everybody on the global warming bandwagon [are doing]."

"I have been nervous about this interview with you because what I feel like saying is, 'Sir, prove to me that you are not working with our enemies. ... And I know you're not. I'm not accusing you of being an enemy, but that's the way I feel, and I think a lot of Americans will feel that way." –interviewing Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN), the first Muslim U.S. congressman, Glen Beck's show on CNN's Headline News, Nov. 14, 2006

"This president I think has exposed himself over and over again as a guy who has a deep-seated hatred for white people or the white culture....I'm not saying he doesn't like white people, I'm saying he has a problem. This guy is, I believe, a racist." –on President Obama, sparking an advertiser exodus from his FOX News show, July 28, 2009 (Source)

2. "I'm thinking about killing Michael Moore, and I'm wondering if I could kill him myself, or if I would need to hire somebody to do it. ... No, I think I could. I think he could be looking me in the eye, you know, and I could just be choking the life out. Is this wrong? I stopped wearing my What Would Jesus -- band -- Do, and I've lost all sense of right and wrong now. I used to be able to say, 'Yeah, I'd kill Michael Moore,' and then I'd see the little band: What Would Jesus Do? And then I'd realize, 'Oh, you wouldn't kill Michael Moore. Or at least you wouldn't choke him to death.' And you know, well, I'm not sure." –responding to the question "What would people do for $50 million?", "The Glenn Beck Program," May 17, 2005

Hi Thadius,

As long as he's a media show, fine. I actually never heard of him until I saw his name here.

When he and Palin show up to try to influence who my Congressman will be (as they did), I have to pay attention.

He's a political voice, for better or for worse, and his views, when in conflict with mine, are absolutely far game.

"Just turn the channel" or "Everybody's entitled to their opinion" doesn't cut it here.

Live well,

Tim

Morning Tim,

I have no problem with folks bashing his policies, words, or actions. I think everybody should be held accountable for those. I was simply pointing out the difference between that and wishing somebody to contract some sort of health issue to shut them up. Especially from those that claim to be for accepting the differences in folks and caring about the health and well being of all Americans.

I had hoped that we as a people had moved passed that sort of thing. I remember the crazy newscasts discussing what shoes or clothes Ferraro was wearing and wondering WTF does this have to do with her positions on issues or her being VP. The same thing came up with Hillary, and now Palin... My one wish is that folks in this country and around the world would start focusing on things that actually matter. Bah, you know what I mean; I have seen the same sort of thought in your posts as of late.

The thing you mentioned about Palin and Beck coming to NY to front for a candidate, isn't that very much the same as other celebs traveling around the country for other politicians? More things change, the more they stay the same.

I wish you well,
Thadius

Hi Thadius,

On the face of it, fair enough, but I do think you're overacting to what was simply a colorful expression.

Then there's Jeff's points.

Live well,

Tim

I wouldn't generalise. I'm a hard and heartless commie, but it doesn't mean that there aren't any bleedin' heart libewals out there. See Jeffff, for example ;-) .

So what, if I get off on the thought of Glenn Beck and his ilk catching minor oto-rhino-laryngological ailments  ? Are you saying that your kink's better than my kink, hmmm? How very right-wing and intolerant of you  .

I will say the fact that his message resonates in this country is somewhat embarrassing to me.

Hola Jeff,

I could pull just as many quotes from other right wingers and left wingers on the radio and boob tube.

I used to try to catch the 3 primetime shows on MSNBC and the 3 on Fox, then I realized it was like watching professional wrestling. There are faces and heels, each one trying to out do the others, and that it ammounts to little more than entertainment with a little bit of truth and news thrown in to make it more believable. There is a certain percentage of folks that watch the various shows and take what is said and shown as gospel truth, and then there are others that just watch for the simple entertainment factor (knowing that if they want to believe anything they need to research it themselves).

I think the real solution to solving many of the world's problems lies in doing away with all the protections for stupid people. You know the folks that just a generation ago would have been allowed to stick that fork in the electrical outlet, or used the metal ladder on the power lines during a thunderstorm to get their kite down, thus thinning the herd and sparing the gene pool from their reproduction. Sounds kind of harsh, but the fact is, they will be outnumbering the average Joe in a few years, and television, radio, and schools will continue to dumb down to their level.

So much for me being accepting and arms wide open, eh?

Have a great afternoon,
Thadius

I can understand that, because it is extremely embarrassing for the country - my mother in law, for example, still doesn't believe that GB (check the initials!!!) has a contract with Goldline. She thinks he encourages people to buy gold out of the goodness of his heart. You can't make that shit up  .

Jeff

And not just his.

We don't need conspiracy theories or terrorists or corporate greed or pandemic. America in time will fail from its own stupidity.

I'll try to prevent that, of course. I like it here. But I really feel like I'm fighting a futile battle.

Disagreeing about direction and policy, fine. But we seem more and more to be leaving reason in the dust.

This nation has a long history of embracing demogogues like Beck, Father Coughlin was worse than Beck.

And the slow death of news papers doesn't help either. I want real information.  I do not want editorials and commentary presented as fact.
