FR Justice Stevens makes this issue pretty clear: "In the context of election to public office, the distinctionbetween corporate and human speakers is significant.Although they make enormous contributions to our society, corporations are not actually members of it. They cannot vote or run for office.

No, no, no- Yosemite Sam is much, much, smarter than Bush... Actually, this debate harkens back to the days of the mid 19th century when senators were elected with funds from corporate coffers- hence they were known, not by the states that supposedly elected them, but as the Senator from DuPont, the Senator from Union Pacific, for Standard Oil etc. and were as responsive to their electorate as many corporate complaint departments. Seems to me that the corporation running the campaign has just eliminated the hypocrisy.... Sam

Maybe a union and a corporation will run against each other this November. At least now the corporation will have a level playing field.

The corporation will always have more 'political speech' in the bank than any union. A level playing field ? Hardly, unless you jest. Isn't it true also that a corporation need not consult the shareholders about whom to contribute campaign money but unions management must by law consult the members before supporting a candidate ? Seems awful curious doesn't it ?
