and who pays these workers?

Being that there is no world government.   You know.    This might have been a story of a remodeled building. ..but why is there a needed for many thousand of UN workers?

That number? Well at the New York branch alone is 5,500.    All those useless workers- making global policy and even if they earn minimum wage- how many dollars a year do we pay for this?

By now you are expecting a prison planet link.

But this is bloomberg.

Lets recall that the UN has other branches- so each has how many workers? and what exactly to they do to make your life better?

...how do you vote them out?   What is the mechanism?

Every country that is a member pays dues yearly to the UN. Don't you recall when Bush was President, they complained that during his term he never approved of the bill being paid.

Useless, some of them are. Some of them aren't. It's a human organisation: there isn't a single human organisation that functions perfectly.

I worked for one of these UN System agencies for four years- it's not very large (roughly 1,500 employees), but it actually generates its own revenue.

What's funny is that the bigwigs within the United Nations are very often American citizens

The UN should spend more of its budget on interior design, they seem to be stuck in some 70's time warp.

Too true, but... can you imagine the SCANDAL if the United Nations HQs were revamped modern-style??? People would be fucking apoplectic over the waste of money and blah di blah di blah.
