Ahh, I knew you had that hot fantasy of being in an undisclosed location, bent over Cheney's knee, him slapping your bottom, you crying out "oh Dick! Oh, Big Daddy Dick!"

JPMorgan vs. Goldman Sachs: Why the Market Was Down 7 Days in a Row

"High frequency trading accounts for 70% of trading on the New York Stock Exchange. Ordinarily, a buyer and a seller show up on the floor, and a specialist determines the price of a trade that would satisfy buyer and seller, and that's the market price. If there are too many sellers and not enough buyers, the specialist lowers the price. High frequency trading as conducted by Goldman means that before the specialist buys and sells and makes that market, Goldman will electronically flood the specialist with thousands and thousands of trades to totally disrupt that process and essentially commandeer that process, for the benefit of siphoning off nickels and dimes for themselves. Not only are they siphoning cash from the New York Stock Exchange but they are also manipulating prices.

What I see as a possibility is that next week, if the bankers on Wall Street decide they don't want to be reformed in any way, they simply set the high frequency trading algorithm to sell, creating a huge negative bias for the direction of stocks. And they'll basically crash the market, and it will be a standoff. The market was down three days in a row, which it hasn't been since last summer. It's a game of chicken, till Obama says, 'Okay, maybe we need to rethink this.'"

ok.. thats just wrong. Master Animus, you just shot a hole in my Daddy/babygirl fantasy!

of course if the fantasy included a hunting trip and babygirl accidentally shooting off one of Big Daddies balls, it might be salvageable, but then people would call you mean. I'd laugh, but I've already been called mean so I don't care.

Stocks dip slightly, Unemployment Plunges

wouldnt this be equally as valid a headline as the other given the actual reality of the math?

Yeh that might be long but I will wait till the suicides start before I pull the trigger on a trade like that.

Pelosi: Where Are the Jobs, Mr. President?

August 1, 2003

Washington, D.C. -- House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement today on the Bureau of Labor Statistics' announcement that 470,000 people abandoned their job searches in July and that 3.2 million private sector jobs have been lost since President Bush took office:

“The fact is that President Bush’s misguided economic policies have failed to create jobs. Since President Bush took office, the country has lost 3.2 million jobs, the worst record since President Hoover. And today we learned that in July nearly half a million people gave up looking for a job.

“Job losses are taking a real toll on the financial security of American families. While Democrats are fighting for opportunity, jobs, and economic security for working families, Republicans continue to focus on helping those who need help the least. “According to today’s survey, while the national unemployment rate dropped slightly, it still stands at a near record high. In addition, the unemployment rate for African Americans was still over 11 percent in July, and the unemployment rate for Hispanics was 8.2 percent in July.

“It is time for President Bush and the Republicans to get to work for all Americans, not just the elite few.”

Well said, Sanity; and after such a dismal record during Bush's term, the finale was the economic collapse we are still reeling from.

This is why the American people kicked them to the curb in 2008.
