Somedays........

Anyway, so sorry to hear, hunk...remember there are birds on Rainbow Bridge Island, too!

Put the cage away, but don't get rid of it. My gut is telling me there's another bird out there who's going to need a good home one of these days, and we all know where it's going to find one :)

no Sweetie...not for him. You gave him a good life and he is now on the other side of the Rainbow bridge...happy and healthy.

The one you feel bad for is yourself, as well you should, because you loved and lost.

Well, I doubt that he actually "drowned" in the water. He most likely died from natural causes as birds just seem to do sometimes and fell off his perch and landed in the water by coincidence. In other words, he was probably already gone before he fell into the water and didn't feel a thing.

Seriously, I used to follow a bird rescue group back in New Jersey, and I know good experienced bird-owners are hard to find. Another one is going to find you when the time is right, I know it. :)

His water dish was on the other side of the cage.   He always perched at the highest branch.

I think he wasn't feeling well and went for a drink of water- where upon he took his final breath.

I don't think large birds belong as pets.   They are ment to live in the rain forest.   There is alot to know- and maybe I did not know enough to do it right. and then maybe he suffered because of it.

I know there is nothing I can do at this point.

It is already done.

There will be moments when I feel feel sad over this.   I knew abit about parrots- but maybe not enough.

-- I know it is already done.   so here I am.      I just think about how he did not ask to be a bird or to be in a cage.  He could not help it.   :-(

I'm sorry about your parrot. I've never heard of a parrot dying so young, but I'm not well versed in parrots.

Don't give the cage away until you know for sure it doesn't harbor some sort of avian disease. Did you buy the cage new?

How long did you have him? Where did you get him?

I've always wanted a parrot. I didn't even know you had one.

I'm sure he had a happy life with you, and appreciates all you did for him.

I bought him on craiglist from a lady who was dying.   I drove 3 hours to pick him up.   He was maybe 1 year when I got him- had him 5 or 6 or 7 years.   I lost track.

The cage came with the purchase.    There was a tag on him- which they broke part if his nail off when they captured him.

he was young.  he knew how to say hello.   and to whistle.

I am so sorry. My only pet ever, my cat Belle, died unexpectedly over a year ago and I am still not over it. She was 18 and just had a cerebral hemmorahage, no preparation whatsoever.

I have a little memorial for her on Rainbow Bridge that is so sad, I cannot even look at it now. :(

We do get attached to the creatures who give unconditional love.

I'm sorry to read of your loss.  Take some time, as others have said.  One day there may be another bird who needs you and you will be ready to provide him or her a home.  *hugs*
