I picked up some Ginseng capsules at the surplus store.  I thought taking vitamins over the winter would be a good idea.

Have you taken Ginseng or any supplement that you think improves your life?

If so what- how many mg- and what?

I know Ginseng goes back many years- use in China.

Your thought?

I am suppose to take fish oil pills for the triglycerides and calcium for the bones.  Add all the other pills I have to take for the bipolar and thyroid condition, you will see why I call myself the walking drugstore.

Is it Chinese or Korean ginseng? You DO know that some ginseng is infused with mind-altering chemicals, right? There's a whole conspiracy out there because of the ginseng scandal - it's all over YouTube.

Just make sure you know who is making the supplement, and that they are not using "fillers".

Echinacea can boost your immune system, increase healing, and over all good health:

I take a lot of vitamins.  I have to say the ones that do the best for me are 1000 mgs of vitamin C a day.  I get that with Emergen C.
Also calcium with vitamin D so my body can digest the calcium.

Ginseng is supposed to be good for you.  It cannot hurt you so why not?

I think I will pick up some more of these.

I do think there was a punch to them.

Over the winter- I figure to boost my immune system that supplements are a plus.

I think it was around 1995 when someone told me about "Wellness Formula" by Source Naturals. I was skeptical about the claims of how great it was at boosting the immune system during times of imbalance such as the onset of a cold or flu-like symptoms. I tried it and was astounded by how well it worked for me. I take it every year when I first get the feeling I'm coming down with something, and I must say that I haven't experienced a cold or the flu since I began taking the stuff. The same applies to anyone else that I've told about this product. And, no, I'm not in anyway affiliated with the manufacture.  Just saying that the product has worked well for me and many others I know.

Edited to add: For quite a while now, I've heard good things about Co Q10, but haven't tried it yet.

I take meds for diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, gout and arthritis. There's a store not far from me which sells boxes of "little blue pills" for a tiny amount of money. I took a pic of the ingredients list and had a look at what's in them and they were basically ginseng and a couple of warming herbs (natural oats being one).

Looking a bit further, I decided not to touch ginseng because it apparently raises your heart rate, and therefore your blood pressure, and that's something I don't need

I have been taking Korean Red Panax ginseng vials (liquid form) for about ten years, one vial a day. It is amazing stuff. No fan at all of pill or tea form, I don't find it strong or effective enough for me. I only use Korean ginseng as well, it is according to most studies superior, especially in comparison to american.

There are a lot of testimonials about the Wellness Formula, and it has 335 mg of Echinacea.

Sorry, I haven't seen any of the testimonials (I assume in this forum is what you are referring). Yes, it does have 335 mg of Echinacea, which is apparently great stuff. But I have tried various wellness products over the years, with many different formulations, but nothing has worked for me like the Wellness Formula does. I'm assuming its something to do with how its formulated. I dunno, but I do know it sure works.
