Once again , I call BULLSHIT!

Thanks for stopping by!

wtf are you ranting about now? Do you ever post anything other than snarky lies?

Musicmystery -> RE: but but but Nuclear power is dangerous! (2/7/2010 11:36:19 AM)

To be fair, sometimes he posts snarky truths.

He spelt Nuclear right???

Well yea, he did. But the explosion didn't have anything to do with nuclear power, according to the OP, it was a gas line explosion. Maybe he doesn't know how to spell gas?

Jeffff -> RE: but but but Nuclear power is dangerous! (2/7/2010 11:38:28 AM)

Like your misinformed answer on uncertainty? Or perhaps your nonsense about supply side economics being successful 3 times in history?

And now your using a tragedy to further some silly nuclear power agenda?  What a guy!

Bla, bla, bla, bla, bla.

In case you ever decide to read a history book, its tragedies that drive all social agendas.

You don't suppose the global-warming cultists have turned to violence, now that they are completely discredited personally, publically, and politically, do you?

.....all this while they're still moving casualties? Good grief. Not your finest hour.

So start a 'pray for the victims' thread.  My question was to Wilbur, but it does seem to have struck a nerve elsewhere.

Jeffff -> RE: but but but Nuclear power is dangerous! (2/7/2010 11:45:15 AM)

Yes, but taking apparent pleasure in them is always bad form.

As much as you attempt to be superior to many here, you fail almost constantly.

I wish you well

Your right Wilbur, gas lines, power plants and everything associated with them can be dangerous.  Do not make light for your point of the two people that lost their life and the injured.

As tragic as this is for the people involved.  It is rather minor compared to what can happen with an explosion at a nuclear power plant, correct?  I mean the incident at TMI was really minor and let's look at the damage from that.  You really want to compare a gas line explosion with what could happen with an explosion at a nuclear plant?

You have to just be pulling everyone's leg for a response.

I assumed your question was ironic, but no, I think it was a tragic accident that can occur at any large scale facility where natural gas is used in large quantities.

There was no pleasure in it. If it was "apparent" to you, then you are either delusional or projecting.

Im not pulling anyones leg. The safety record of nuclear power plants natural gas plants isnt even close.

You do understand the difference between this incident and lets say.. .Chernobyl?

Yes. You apparently don't have a clue about the track record of nuclear safety records vs natural gas plants, though.

Accidents with natural gas have an accumulative impact... true... but an accident like Chernobyl... once.. is enough to impact 100s of 1000s for generations, render entire swaths of property uninhabitable... etc etc etc...

Jeffff -> RE: but but but Nuclear power is dangerous! (2/7/2010 12:01:06 PM)

Once again, disingenuous. I am not an anti nuclear energy guy. It most likely is the future.

Having said that, if a nuke plant goes, the potential damage is much greater than 2 deaths and 100 injured.

When you compare apples and oranges, you look like a douche.

More importantly, you seem to think that the rest of us are too stupid to see it.

Thats insulting

  • Chernobyl accident is equivalent to 500 nuclear bombs used in Hiroshima in 1945.
  • The releases contaminated an estimated 17 million people to some degree.
  • 143,000 people have been evacuated from contaminated areas of Ukraine
  •  600,000 people took part in liquidating effects of the disaster, 100,000 of which already died or are now handicapped
  • Cases of leucosis and thyroid cancer exceed average by 2 and 5 times correspondingly among the Chernobyl victims.
  • There are 1.8 million people residing on the territories of Ukraine, Russia, and Belarus, which are still defined as contaminated
  • For the 14 years since the disaster 300,000 died in Ukraine alone from the radiation sickness

Here is the thing, being anti-nuke does not mean one is pro-gas anyways....

One can be against both....

I think most people are too stupid to understand insurance too, and that is clear from reading discussions about it. There are two components to insurance, probability and economic cost. the low probability of nuclear accidents dwarfs the potential economic risk.

When faced with a choice between taking offense at someone's behavior, or assuming that they are ignorant, I find it is better just to assume the latter instead of the former... I hate feeling insulted[:D]
