So instead, I will frame your question in terms of public figures:
Palin/ Limbaugh/ Teabagger axis: I put the leading lights of the Conservative movement more towards the Totalitarian side, because while they champion free and unfettered markets (capitalism- Yay!) they also champion Christianist, religious domination of the cultural sphere.
Examples would the drumbeat of victimization of the "war on Christmas", seeing Christianity as the authentic American culture, and all others as alien and grudgingly tolerated.
They also advocate massive expansion of Executive power. Dick Cheney and his acolytes for example, believe- quite literally- that during a time of war, there is almost no limit to what power the Executive has. Tapping phones, imprisoning Americans without trial or charges, torturing them to get information...they advocate all these things, and these are the power of a Dictatorship, nothing less.
Finally, they believe in an America that is the sole undisputed power in the world; instead of seeing America as a citizen within an alliance of freedom loving nations, they insist that America be in such a position as to never, ever look at any other nation as an equal.
As I said, within every political group lurks these sort of people- there are those within the Left that would fit this mold as well. But you didn't ask about them.
