I always thought it was interesting that commiting suicide was illegal.  I mean how are they gonna punish you?

I believe, but am not positive, that it is more to do with insurance than anything else.  Life insurance won't pay out on death by illegal act, and health insurance won't cover injuries obtained while committing an illegal act so if you're not successful, you have a huge hospital bill (although a friend of mine who works in E.R. billing fought and won the fight to have an insurance company pay on injuries from an attempted suicide).

Public nudity but in states with conceal and carry the right to shoot anyone that grosses you out.

Interesting. I always assumed the law was passed to, in theory, protect those who would be left behind. Children, other dependents and the like.

FR

Suicide used to be illegal in the UK and elsewhere probably, the punishment came only if you fucked it up.

So attempted suicide was illegal but suicide never was.

Consider that I'm here in the UK.

This is actually a convenient thread. I'm working on an independent film project in which a gun is used. But I have had problems getting a model or toy gun to use as it's illegal to sell or buy a toy gun or model gun which looks like a real gun.

I have had to buy a blue plastic gun (the only alternatives I could find were pink and orange) with a red end. I am painting it black to make it look like a gun, but when I do that it will be illegal for me to take the gun out or anywhere in a public place.

So yes, buy a realistic looking but plastic toy gun.

Also...

Peeing.

Apparently here in the UK only pregnant women can pee where and when they like. I'm not advocating that we should have the right to pee willy nilly where we like but if we want to take ourselves off somewhere or go behind the bushes I feel we should legally be allowed to do so.

I agree. Boobs should be legalised. It pisses me off no end that men's chests are legal on the beach, but not mine. A few years ago, when I was merely touristing over here, I had no qualms taking my top off on the beach, but now that I'm a legal alien... I'd rather not take the risk of getting arrested for public indencency [:(] .

It's actually offensive that women's breasts are considered obscene material. Either everybody has to cover up, or both men and women have the right to take their tops off. Fuck's sake, how retarded is that?

You'd have to define where in terms of the bushes though. I'd be pretty pissed if people started peeing behind the bushes on my front yard and there wasn't anything I could do to stop them.

Call me a prude but that isn't what I want to look out my front window and see. [:'(]

Pot: It is simply not in the same category as other drugs like heroin or cocaine.  How often do you hear of pot smokers mugging people to get their next fix?  They don’t because they are to busy watching the Cartoon Network.  Also, think of the prison space that would be freed up for more dangerous criminals like rapists and murderers.  And, of course, there is tax revenue in it for the government.

Prostitution:  Why should it be illegal for a woman (or a man for that matter) to sell what is perfectly legal for her to give away for free?

Smoking in Bars and Restaurants:  It should be up to the owners – they know best what kind of cliental they have/want to attract.

Breast Feeding in Public:  I can’t believe that some places actually ban this or that some people even raise a stink about it.  To all the uptight sphincters out there who call it “inappropriate,” (or worse) – C’mon!  It’s a woman feeding her child, what the hell could possibly be inappropriate about that?

Homosexual Marriage:  It is a simple matter of equal rights.

Multiple Marriages:  If all partners are consenting, what’s the friggen problem?  My only requirement would be that in any divorce (whether in a two person marriage or a multiple marriage) would be that the divorcing person is entitled to one equal share of the marital assets.  Of course, the divorce lawyers will never stand for that!

Women Going Topless in Public:  If it is okay for the men to ditch their shirts in hot weather, it should be okay for the women too.  Yeah, sure, I’m for this only because I love tits but so what?  Technically it is gender discrimination.

I always thought the opposite was too true. i.e. far too many real looking replicas floating about,

Personally I think even greater restrictions should apply.

Well I am certainly in favor of you walking around nake (nake being the present tense of naked)

All victimless crimes should be abolished.
Prostitution
Gambling
Drugs
Homosexuality
Suicide

SL4V3M4YB3 -> RE: Should it be legal? (2/11/2010 9:57:19 AM)

Tax evasion is a victimless crime.

Fireworks. I LOVE fireworks and thankfully, I'm smart enough to know how to read instructions. Unfortunately lawmakers seem to think that because some are idiots and blow off their hands that all people should be banned from using them unless they are contracted by the state for special displays.

I'm not talking about dynamite or bombs...just the pretty, sparkly, big, showy, fireworks. At one point the average citizen had the ability to acquire some really cool fireworks. Nowadays sparklers are illegal in some city limits. [>:]

name something that's illegal that should be legalized.

The French. Currently illegal in England......but with a recession going on/hard times we could do with some drama and wild gesticulation....just for a few days or so....and then ban them again.

Hey, if we get some more people, we could rent a beach house for the weekend! BDSM, booze, beach and BOOMs!

What could possibly go wrong with this idea...

LMAO! If I had the funds to finance the visit you can bet I'd be there for that. The 4 great B's of life.

AquaticSub -> RE: Should it be legal? (2/11/2010 1:31:18 PM)

Mmm... well... if we calculate for max. number of people it will lower the cost of house. We're all snuggly and wanton right? So... four to a bed? [:D]

Where are our rights in all of this? how can you make smoking illegal in bars when smoking is legal? So many laws for things that adults should be able to do.

Why is it illegal, because second hand smoke can when inhaled for a long period of time can KILL other peopl

And I personally like to go to a bar.. and not die from inhaling someone elses smoke.. You want to smoke just fine dont involve OTHERS in your choices non consensually.

Besides we have a few bars locally that do allow smoking for a fee every month.
