It's a tasty way to add flavor to baking and cooking.

It's also a way to refer to the non-kinky that I, personally, have issues with.

I believe the word vanilla was originally used to mean something plain, and derived from those ice cream shops that sold masses of different flavours. Vanilla was the 'basic' variety, everything else was more exotic.

Also when you mix vanilla with almost any other flavor it goes well together... or you can make vanilla into a scrumptious sundae, or put little sprinkles on top... vanilla is versatile

It's just the easiest way for folks to say non kinky.  As Aquatic said, a lot of people don't agree with the term (another example of this is "lifestyle") but when you use it, most folks have at least some idea of notion that you are referring to the non kinky activities or people.

Johmey, please don't get too worried about "vanilla" everybody has none BDSM interests. We all have lives and everything we do is not BDSM 24/7.

Vanilla when in context of activies would be - Dinner, Movies, going to the Park etc.
None Vanilla activities would be - Bondage, Spanking, Humiliation and etc.

Now you can take Vanilla activities and incorperate BDSM into them if you like, or just do those activities without elements of BDSM (like how ever body else does).

Don't panic, and think there is any thing wrong with Vanila aspects of things.

In fact, at times it's best to apply Vanilla common sense and experiences to BDSM? Why because they are general life experiences.

I'm all for the Blending of Vanilla and BDSM because that's realistic. It's okay you don't have to be BDSM 24/7...

I did not think of it like that...

I thought of it as regular old fashioned sex, not nonsexual activities....

I like vanilla sex... it is yummy and comforting... and then he pulls my hair to get me into position,.... OOOOO ... those yummy sprinkles

Agreed...given the history and exotic locations the vanilla bean is sourced from... http://www.nielsenmassey.com/historyofvanilla.htm  I've always found it interesting people use the word to describe some as plain.

I'm partial to vanilla with chocolate and raspberry swirls and a dusting of nuts

If you are neither totally "vanilla" or really "kinky", you can be Mint Chocolate Chip or MCC for short.

It is a secret code and a composite of 2 meanings. “Van” is symbolic of secrets, like the secret spy vans with all that electronic equipment. The "nilla" part is a reference to the manila ropes we use. So “Van-nilla” refers to someone who is in our secret bondage society.

That's always been part of my issue as well. I mean, if we want to go for a plain food stuff shouldn't be we going for something like grits? Without adding anything to them, I find them fairly flavorless.

With a few exceptions, I find that I don't actually like nuts on or my food. I guess I'm not kinky enough....

I keep my Vanilla Ice cream in a state of Frozen Bondage and pull it out confinement only for my pleasure and enjoyment. I'll proceed to man handle it, by force I open it up and expose it to view. (i may have a slight smile of anicipation). Licking my lips. I proceed to take a spoon and penetrate it, It resists at first, then with added force It's subdued to my will. For it will be forced to Serve my Appetities and Tasty pleasureful lusts. It will begin to melt in my mouth as I swirl my tounge around it... Yummy..

I have only a vague idea of what vanilla means.

Vanilla is a kink conducted by people who have obscene sexual desires that I just can't get my head around.

I think it used to mean something but in the modern world it means very little since we now live in this age of sexual liberation. Probably you'll struggle to find anyone that hasn't engaged in some form of kink to some degree. So nowadays it's probably considered more kinky to not have any kinks of any kind.

Although I'm probably biased, perhaps some people do actually have this form of sex life.

If I were wearing panties I'd have to change them now.

(Seriously, you can't post that in a thread were ice cream is also being discussed and not have some squirming going on.)

Excellent point. But does anyone eat plain grits?
