If this was the case, they wouldn't be ex's or even potentials for me, because if a guy isn't capable of intelligent conversation, it becomes obvious in the first couple of conversations, and I lose interest right away, and won't consider getting involved even in a friendship.

No, I don't find myself bored at all if they're willing to talk or open up about things, whether it's themselves, their philosophies, their thoughts, opinions on whatever, as long as they're willing to talk about something deeper than pubic hair preferences and sexual kinks.

Not at all. I can't say I've ever been involved with someone who didn't want to listen or who wasn't interested in what I had to say. Everyone I've ever been involved with has actually encouraged it. I could find fault with a few of my ex's, that's for sure, but this wouldn't be one of them.
