Yes, a long coat ,and perhaps headscarf, can be very useful en route to play situations!

The local PD agreed to be involved in situations that would force them to make or not make decisions related to what the OP is stating. That's their job. And unless they are overly fixated on uncovering some underage curfew-blowing plot, no more time than that needed to make a cursory ID check is needed.
