Wasn't it candidate Obama who pledged (promised?) that he would go into Pakistan to get OBL, and chase the terrorist as necessary?

It would seem that there are operations to capture terrorists.

Reading the thread for content, you might see that my comments were in response to Domi's discussion in post 45 about our agreements not to go into Pakistan.  I have no problem with Obama doing so.

In fact, pointing out that we have indeed gone into Pakistan undercuts Domi's original argument about me not posting "the full truth".

Now that is not fair. They are obviously researching the topic. Getting to know all of the ins an outs.

Trying to find a way to blame Bush and or Palin for the current policies.

Not hard to do that for Bush anyway. The Taliban were never the problem, only Bin laden. The Taliban only allowed him to recruit from his flock (he got 2 men total) which was the birth of 'Al-Quada.'

Once Bin Laden 'escaped' going after the Taliban has been a ruse to spend more war dollars (chasing rabbits) and likely to secure pipeline as any reason.

Some of those 'ins and outs' are the fact that at the start we used men and material to get those we want and with Afghanistan being the longest 'war' in American history we decided to use technology and save American lives.

One of those that have 'learned the ins and outs' is George Will who says we should protect Afghan. mainly from off-shore with just this kind of technology...whoever it kills and to only to prevent Al-Quada from reforming there.

The rest of the story is that the Taliban refused Bin Laden and his 'Al-Quada' help in attacking the US and never wanted to attack the US or the west they being more concerned about corrupt Arab govt. and the general 'westernizing' of Islam and their orthodoxy.

The 'war' against the Taliban is not a war against terrorism. It is a war against a culture we believe leads to those who would find some grievance against the US like most of the lone wolves such as the soldier from Ft. hood and the Nigerian airplane bomber who were lead (seduced) by online imams or so-called cyber-clerics into attacking the US to exact some personal justice.

Look, I have a question for real patriots who so often site our original founding beliefs. Aren't we as man (mankind) endowed with rights ? Weren't these rights to be self-evident, and inalienable rights (not granted by govt.) but by our creator ?

If we believe that, then we believe it for all of mankind not based on race or geography or religion. Miranda and the treatment for the xmas bomber has yielded as much or more intelligence and more likely usable because he has been judge innocent...until proven guilty, then if we tortured him.

BTW to my knowledge, we are apprehending whoever we can over there and they are incarcerated and interrogated over there for the time being.
