StrangerThan started a thread in Politics and Religion bemoaning the deterioration of civility in political discussions. This got me wondering....I have run afoul ,in the past, of Mod 11....well lately I have noticed an awful lot of posts with content that in the past would have led to some corner time for some posters....but strangely no subsequent "awaiting approval" posts.
What gives? Did I miss something(I've been doing a lot of travelling...so maybe I missed the announcment?)

There has been no announcement...just a general relaxing of the enforcement. I for one approve of it, though I am always wondering....did I go too far?

I don't know....maybe ask that Psychonaut guy about the Moderators.

Where has he been lately anyway?

I heard that the "paranoic control freak" went into abeyance here. Seemed good to me-I should complain?

Alpha did make an announcement of sorts, here.

http://www.collarchat.com/fb.asp?m=2982310

The first several pages of the thread are a good read, I think, for people who want a sense of the current spirit of moderation of these boards.  Users, mods, and admins all chimed in.

Which Psychonaut username are you referring to?

That's public record, as you probably know, but others reading the thread may not.  VideoAdminSigma explained the situation, but I've already hunted down one link for this thread, so I'm not doing it again.  Psychonaut created a post signature that named and criticized a user, which is contrary to TOS.  He was asked to change his signature, but did not.  The mods waited several days, and then removed all his posts from the boards, so his anti-TOS signature would no longer be visible.  As DarkSteven alluded, he tried to return with a slightly different username, but didn't get very far with that either.

Mike, I wasn't posting during the less relaxed days that Arpig and others have alluded to, so I have no real terms of reference.

But I would say that if it is currently a more relaxed attitude, then there are still problems. We have seen a holocaust denial thread go round in circles for weeks, it's existence merely an opportunity for some to repost the same images.

We have seen a 911 denial thread do the same, with no resolution. These threads almost deserve some kind of "Going Nowhere" ruling, if not for the content alone. If they are not added to for a while, the OP just reposts something to put it back on the front page, so to speak.

A lot of harm occurs under the guise of free speech. I believe in it, but absolutely?

Ironically, I've seen a thread close because a Moderator decided it had "gone long enough folks". I don't disagree with that type of decision, only if it is inconsistent and arbitrary.

If you do a search on the main page for all the moderators - you won't find ModXI there.  I'm not sure where's she's gone.

That one seemed to be the main problem here. I wondered if the individual was entirely sane at times.

The change is a welcome one. I can tap dance along the lines of decency. I can do a cannonball as well.

One thing that people should realize no matter what was said via the link above...I was paid to come back.

I'm rich, bitch!!!!!!

To say that many of the habitues of this forum chafed under Mod XI's 'benevolent' rule would be something of an understatement.

However some of the formerly banned were banned for very good reasons. One of them needs to be given the heave ho again.

~Fast Reply~

*shrugs* Personally, I have never had much of an issue with the mods. I'm not sure how I feel about the looser reign but I am confident that if it proves to be a problem, it will be addressed.
