I'm insulted at the assumption that my ass is anything but squeaky clean. The toilet on the other hand is pretty gross. Just due to the fact that it is a toilet.

Being a Master means... mean.. Ummmm.. Ummmmm... Being a Dom to me means... yeah.. it means... (hold that thought, I'll get back to you when I myself figured it out).

I knew there was a reason why I try so hard to simply be myself. I'm sorry if I Vanilla Horrified anybody like a victim in a bad B movie.

LA - thank you for clarifying.
Best,

Well, we're not gonna know until you show it to us, now will we?

Sorry, but them's the rules around these parts.

For me, being the Master means that I can dictate the nature of the relationship. It means that I'm allowed to be compassionate, instead of being forced to be self-protective, because I know that if my needs are threatened, I can have them met by fiat. Paradoxically, being the Dominant allows me to focus more attention on my partners - I can afford to be more vulnerable and compassionate because I have explicit permission to correct any of the issues that usually punish vulnerability and compassion.

Damn, that's good.

Granted, that's usually par for the course for you.

It means nothing at all to me. I would answer the same if you asked me what it means to have hair, or what it means to be a person. Nothing. I'm myself, exactly as you are yourself. I'm not acting, playing, or pretending.

If you asked "what does it feel like to be a breakdancer?" Assuming I was a breakdancer, I could answer that, because that's an activity, a hobby. Something I choose to do.

Being who I am isn't a choice or a hobby. :)

*bow* I suppose it's reached the level where counting points are superfluous. ;)

Have you agreed to the newly affixed disclaimers I have had to include? If so, I can add the points.

Not that you were doing anything with them. :P

Whiplashsmile4 -> RE: What does it mean to be a Dom/Master to you? (2/17/2010 8:58:20 PM)

First and foremost, my focus has always been upon what does it mean to be myself as a human being. In terms of what it means to be a Dom/Master, I reflect upon what I mean to myself, what my relationships mean to me and those I'm involved with mean to me. The depth and meanings can and will vary accordingly. I do not treat all people equally, however this does imply that I lack a baseline code of Human courtesy, ethics and moral values. When social group norms are not condusive to my own internal codes of conduct or ethics, I can and do rebel. I will challenge the norms and/or group authority figures. Challenge however does not imply confrontational means nor force.

This is but a scratch upon the surface of who I am as a person. In many ways I appear as rather bit of a swash buckling pirate. A little rough around the edges, like to laugh, have a good time. I'll venture into questionable places. There is also a side of me that's rather a Celtic Druid that bonds with nature and enjoys the simplicity of nature. There's a part of up that goes upscale and enjoys some of the so called finer things in life. Often, I'll break people's notions that one way or another. Some people only see certain facets of who I am. That's reserved for those closest to me.

I will be what I will be, not I am what I am. I care not to wear those chains of self imposed bondage in a state of helplessness. This is one of many governing ideologies possessed inside of who and what I am. Things like this translate into who I am as a Dom/Master.

It's usually what comes out of the blender after a year or two together.

Do you have any suggestion about what would be a better thing to use an analogy? I totally get the feeling of being insulted (and if certain other posters had said it, I too would have been insulted.). I just don't know what would express it so deeply. I mean the Goreans often talk about their s-types as cars or dogs. Other folks use horses. What could we use that expresses the sentiment without being insulting (I'm being sincere here, not snarky at all).

D-type is to artist as s-type is to work of art?

My man sets the rules around MY parts, including my butt, and I'd rather you think I had a dirty butt than him making sure I had a red one. He does not share my butt, my butt is his most favoritest thing.

Being Master of my destiny-whether or not I am with someone.

All real personal power stems from this.

I want to know what you enjoy about being in the Dominant role.

  • I like owning a woman Don't ask me why. I don't know. I differentiate this from all the pragmatic aspects like "getting all the blowjobs I want". For me, at least, it is deeply fulfilling all by itself.
  • I like efficiently running our marriage. This is pretty straightforward. I'm a good leader. Being in charge makes sense.
  • I like the responsibility: The more Carol submits, the more authority I have. With authority goes responsibility. I enjoy having an impossibly high bar to jump over. I enjoy it for two reasons. First, I enjoy it because it makes me smug thinking that most people could not manage it. Second, it makes me better myself constantly.
