I didn't watch it. I don't care to watch it PERIOD!

It is a PR ploy. Frankly the only persons he needs to apologize to is his wife, kids and family members.

I would be afraid if i was his wife that he has given me an STD, Aids or god knows what else is out there. He took their love and just threw it away.

I think we worship the wrong "heroes".

For the women that messed with him and are now whining just shut up and go away. Realize what you have done, what you are and just go away. One woman alledgedly got pregnant twice. How is that working for you?

The Golf World is just dying for him to come back. I hear crowds are down. People will forget and it will go on as usual.. NEXT STORY!.....whatever the press will go with....

I sort of would've like to see him not give a press conference and just go on hitting golf balls.

What about a press conference where he hits golf balls? Everyone's a winner, it's win win.

Also while you are at it Tiger Woods would you please for the love of golf stop knocking my razor out of my hand when I'm about to shave; It's dangerous I could cut myself. Stop exploiting my need for the latest technological fad you fucker!

This also is a message to Thierry Henry and that tennis player I don't know the name of. You is all as bad as one another with your targeted selling.

could it also be part of the therapy program he's involved in?

no doubt he's apologised to his wife and family.

and his sponsors.

but as someone mentioned elsewhere, a lot of kids may have looked to him as a role model. if he doesn't apologise, do we say he's cocky and arrogant for thinking he could get away with being such a terrible role model (which he didn't ask to be, although it seems obvious that if you're THAT good at something, people ARE going to see you that way), or do we think he's being cocky because he wants his endorsements back, and this public apology will allow forgiveness to flow and he'll be back to his previous god-like status.

seems to me, he's in a no win situation which ever way he goes. and you KNOW the press will bring it up every time he has a press conference from now on. perhaps he's also trying to get it out now so they'll leave it alone.

my two cents.

People need to stop worshipping heroes, real and fake, and they should start building their own mythology instead: those who elevated Tiger Woods as a figure with a better moral compass than themselves need a serious reality check.

As for kids who think sports personalities have the answers to life, death and everything... I blame the parents for so completely lacking in imagination that their children look up to the plastic people that populate their television screens.

Perhaps this sad and sordid tale will serve in teaching us that famous sports people are just better at sports.

I don't give a d**n what Tiger Woods did, It does not affect me. The only one he owes anything to (including an apology) is his wife.

I'm sure he has "people" advising him so that he can try to rehabilitate his image.

It is sad how much a cog in the media wheel he is. I would loathe that. Not the bux mind. I think having a public apology might be a way to start from one point to the other. He is in the public eye making a public statement about the whole media shindig it has been. It is a way to hopefully end it much like David Letterman's statement.

I think the chicks who went behind his wife are low and he is low too and all the lying and covering up is so tres unattractively uncool.

It would be lovely if these women learned something from the shite they helped perpetuate. Maybe Tiger learned something too. I dont know. It is none of anyone's business but since he is such a media giant I can see the logic of it somewhere in there.

I think it would be more of a complete package if these women came out and talk to everyone too so that all the women that might thinking boinking a married super star is a good idea. His wife was not aligned with this and with that those women betrayed his wife with their own treachery.

I just listened to the "speech"; call him Tiger "Wooden". Wanna torture someone? Let Tiger read to them. Shit.

I am sure whatever it was it was weird. I didnt see it, dont care to but look at who is saying the speech and what his speech is about. He got his hand caught in the cookie jar and he skipped and danced all around it like Winona did. How can it be a good natural speech?

The same reason Jimmy Swaggart made a big drama about admitting to paying hookers for sex.

He wants the money.

I think he probably has enough money, probably he don't want to lose it through third party damages.

LP, I don't think talking about kids in this regard is seen as a TOS violation any longer. But you do make a good point, regarding Tiger's relationship to his younger fans.

As for him and the sponsors, he and they are/were in it for one thing: money. They paid him very well, and he made them even far more money in return. I don't see them owing each other much, but if he felt the need to apologize to them, I don't see anything wrong with it, I just don't know that I'd do it.

Level, My point about the sponsors would be, in most cases such as high profile endorsements, there usually is a morality clause in there.  To Me, once I had signed that contract, that means that I would have given My word.  Don't lie, don't steal, don't have sexual encounters with others should I be promoted as a monogamous family man.  The motivation for doing so, I agree with you, is money.  Still, I'd have to look at what I said I would do.  If I didn't live up to that, I'd fall short.  I would certainly want to make amends.

in an ideal world, yes.

who would they base their mythology on, though. how many parents attend church these days - which gives a basic moral foundation, no matter what you think of individual dogma's.

how many parents have affairs, lie, cheat, steal and talk about it in front of their children and when caught, blame society instead of themselves?

how many parents think sesame street is a good place for children to learn? baywatch? CSI? Scrubs? Lost? Home & Away? (forgive me for old shows, i don't watch tv anymore )

how many parents let schools teach morals, ethics and sex education and then scream when their children bring these back home and it goes against how they're living their lives. but to teach their OWN children? heck no - that's why they pay taxes!

children learn from authority figures, whomever they may be, wherever they find them, and often don't have a moral compass to tell them whether they're good or bad examples to learn from

end rant

heartcream: he could have made it "natural" by speaking from the heart, not reading a script, IMO. Stand up there, say "I hurt a lot of people, that mean a great deal to me. I'm sorry for that, and I intend to make amends."

LP: I agree that if there was a morality clause, then he may well indeed owe them an apology, you're right about that.

to be the devils advocate...

this is a vanilla relationship...and he's famous..

perhaps he got sick of eating turkey every night and wanted chicken now and then

or perhaps, it's this...
he is a man who is worshipped by fans, media, ect. his little wifey doesn't give him worship, she treats him like a husband...but now these bitches on the side, oh they worshipped his cock, they idolized him. How could he not love that? He had his chicken and his turkey.

Plus, maybe his wife was a nasty little wife who needled away at him? one never knows...
and in the limelight like he is, i think people get too condisending.

He fucked around...what is affecting things the most are the kids in the middle more than the limelight..really, fans are made of thin fabric.

anywho....

i do not remember having my self esteem affect by a famous persons lavous lifestyle. There was Michael Jordan who gambled back when i was a 6th grader and the media was like "ooooh the kids!" i really don't think the kids give a fuck. Kids have a much more realistic view of the world than adults give them credit for, even back when i was a little girl in a training bra & no good quality internet. i knew what the world was for what it was, enough to know that people fucked up & those who did in the limelight got crucified by the so-called saints.

Doing it for "the kids" is a weak reason and a lie.
santa claus is a better reason to bs .
my 2 cents

I would say that the only people he owed an apology to are the companies that pay him for endorsements.

I'm not even sure he owes them an apology - they already made a lot of money on his name - if they drop him now because of it, so be it, that's their choice.
He was never elected to public office, he is not a member of the clergy, he didn't make a living telling people how to live their life except what the best golf shoes to use perhaps.
Who cares?  This isn't hard news.  Access Hollywood and the National Enquirer fodder is all.

I realize this and that is why I would imagine it was not for real. He was all involved in all kinds of nefarious activity so recently, I dont get that he has reached his heart this fast, he is still seems to be personifying himself. He looks worse too, really raked over and puffy, not dewy and contrite.

I dont mean to be mean or harsh but I feel (I dont know though) he is pulling another fast one. The public is his other other mistress. Who is he true to, I wonder.
