VirginPotty -> Do you think that Tiger Wood's owed America an apology? (2/19/2010 11:50:49 AM)

Wtf did he do that was so wrong against America? He wronged his wife!
Wtf do I care that he got his winkie wet in multiple holes?? They were all of legal age & consent. He didn't do anything illegal so why does he feel compelled to hold a press conference to apologize?
He's a noted control freak so is this his way of gaining control of the situation?

kittinSol -> RE: Do you think that Tiger Wood's owed America an apology? (2/19/2010 11:53:12 AM)

Agreed, agreed and agreed. I think the public apology humiliation thing has become a rite of passage for famous American men who fuck up. It's part of the PR requirements: self-humiliate in order to get a ticket to start all over again with a clean slate.

Fucking pathetic.

thishereboi -> RE: Do you think that Tiger Wood's owed America an apology? (2/19/2010 11:55:32 AM)

No, I don't. I think it is between his family and himself.  I think the girl friend should stop whining too. She knew he was married, but now she is all upset because he told her he loved her. How could he lie to me....WTF

domiguy -> RE: Do you think that Tiger Wood's owed America an apology? (2/19/2010 11:56:49 AM)

I wish he would've shown up at the press conference with a few of his 'yatches, completely disheveled, unshaven and toting half a bottle of gin.

LaTigresse -> RE: Do you think that Tiger Wood's owed America an apology? (2/19/2010 11:59:03 AM)

It is ridiculous. I just don't care.

I think our whole celebrity worship is wacko.

What do people expect from this guy anyway.....from a very young age he was put in a twisted environment. Driven to pursue one thing. Told he was the greatest. He was always sheltered and told he was the best. Talk about a breeding ground for a narcissistic freak!!! Why wouldn't he think he could have any of the twits throwing themselves at him? Why wouldn't he think he could avoid the consequences of mere mortals when he was never taught he was a mere mortal?

DomMeinCT -> RE: Do you think that Tiger Wood's owed America an apology? (2/19/2010 11:59:32 AM)

He doesn't need to apologize to me.  The whole thing is spectacle and theatre.

It had nothing to do with apologizing to the public, and everything to do with getting the future cleared for raking in new sponsor contracts as soon as the PR team can show Tiger's been "forgiven" by the public.

Be interesting to see how long it takes the PR team to do that.

DarlingSavage -> RE: Do you think that Tiger Wood's owed America an apology? (2/19/2010 1:08:47 PM)

Another famous public apology

Well, I just had to add this, too.

ShoreBound149 -> RE: Do you think that Tiger Wood's owed America an apology? (2/19/2010 1:15:41 PM)

That wasn't an apology.

That was a please reconsider me for massive sponsorship $$$ speech.

He's a pussy.

sirsholly -> RE: Do you think that Tiger Wood's owed America an apology? (2/19/2010 1:19:04 PM)

i think he was following the script of his "advisers"

SL4V3M4YB3 -> RE: Do you think that Tiger Wood's owed America an apology? (2/19/2010 1:35:06 PM)

The apology probably isn't for the sake of Americans anyway, it's probably for the sake of his sponsors in reality.

All in all it's pretty trivial.

kiwisub12 -> RE: Do you think that Tiger Wood's owed America an apology? (2/19/2010 1:36:36 PM)

The man plays golf!!!!!! He doesn't go on tv and tell people they shouldn't screw around, and then pass legislation to that effect. He hits a little white ball into a little hole and does it really well. He doesn't owe me an explaination, a reason or an excuse. The press needs to get over itself. As far as I can tell, they are the ones demanding an explanation/reason/ mea culpa.

I just can't find anyone who has threatened suicide because another over-indulged male screwed up in the public (pubic) eye.[8|]

servantforuse -> RE: Do you think that Tiger Wood's owed America an apology? (2/19/2010 1:54:48 PM)

I would say that the only people he owed an apology to are the companies that pay him for endorsements.

DarlingSavage -> RE: Do you think that Tiger Wood's owed America an apology? (2/19/2010 2:06:18 PM)

I'm pretty sure that the only people he owes apologies to are people he associates with personally on a daily basis. I really don't see why the man owes an apology to his sponsors. Is he married to them, too?

SL4V3M4YB3 -> RE: Do you think that Tiger Wood's owed America an apology? (2/19/2010 2:17:14 PM)

It'll be contractual i.e. 'we are going to invoke this clause and take away some of what we previously agreed unless you apologise'.

That kind of nonsense.

If you want to move on then you don't apologise because it just drags it all up again.

Level -> RE: Do you think that Tiger Wood's owed America an apology? (2/19/2010 3:44:43 PM)

Potty, he owes America zilch.

I sure as hell wouldn't apologize to anyone but my wife and family.

LadyPact -> RE: Do you think that Tiger Wood's owed America an apology? (2/19/2010 3:50:50 PM)

Do I think he owes his wife and family and apology?  Absolutely.

Do I think he owes all of America an apology?  Probably not.

However, there is kind of a gray area here.  Yes, other folks saying it has to do with the sponsors and the endorsements are right, and I'm not especially arguing that.

Unfortunately, as a culture, we tend to idolize folks that don't necessarily deserve it.  Sports figures, people in music or films.  Often, we point them out as a demonstration of what hard work, dedication, practice, etc can do.  Especially for those who look up to him, there is something of a responsibility on his part.  (I'm trying to talk about a certain age bracket here without violating TOS.)

In that sense, he might owe some folks an apology.  Let Me put that another way.

If I knew that people in their formative years looked up to Me, and I colossally screwed up on some kind of moral or ethical ground, I would feel that I owed them an apology.  Not that I feel that I, or Tiger Woods, or any other person on this planet is a perfect human being.  At the same time, when I fuck up, and disappoint or hurt people, I cop to it, and I apologize.

Level -> RE: Do you think that Tiger Wood's owed America an apology? (2/19/2010 4:06:22 PM)

LP, I don't think talking about kids in this regard is seen as a TOS violation any longer. But you do make a good point, regarding Tiger's relationship to his younger fans.

As for him and the sponsors, he and they are/were in it for one thing: money. They paid him very well, and he made them even far more money in return. I don't see them owing each other much, but if he felt the need to apologize to them, I don't see anything wrong with it, I just don't know that I'd do it.

Maybe he wants to run for president?

I sort of would've like to see him not give a press conference and just go on hitting golf balls. I would like to see the media cry "no fair" about it. Then again, betcha any money, it was all about the benjamins. His sponsers threatened to pull out(no pun intended) if he didn't give a speech.

I'm betting the sponsers wives were behind the threats!...well i would'nt shock me.[8|] and the sponsers all have girlfriends so (lol) they must look respectible and be the proper hypocrites our tvs viewers demand them to be![;)]
