I thought that after the movie, Field of Dreams, came out we ALL knew that hotdogs were a choking hazard. 

Of course, we do not worry about them in this house.  Hotdogs are icky and are not allowed in the house at all. 

Besides, whatever happened to cutting up the child's food in the first place?

Actually hot dogs are made using cellulose casings that are removed.

Back in the old days when, y'know, rollerskates had four wheels and nobody in their right mind would ever wear a helmet when they rode their bike - if a kid did something terribly stupid or they were home with their parents and something awful happened to them, the parents were blamed. Not Hasbro or General Mills or whatever. If some kid drank laquer remover and died, everyone asked why the parents left it where their kids could get at it - not blamed Dow Chemical for not putting a big enough warning label on the bottle. If a kid swallowed six legos and choked, everyone blamed the parents for leaving the child alone - not figured they should sue The Lego Group for being negligent.

Until people reclaim that sense of responsibility and accountability nothing will change - because no action that some factory takes a thousand miles away will ever make up for not paying attention to your children.

Casings (as referred to in the second link) are intestines that have been thoroughly cleaned and either dried or kept moist in a brine.

We all know.........at least those of us that used to HATE hot dogs but were won over by a good, weal and twue, hot dog.......they gotta be made with those gut casings and have a nice snap when you bite them!

What?????  I am supposed to be WATCHING my child?  I cannot just get one of those RFID things inserted into her?  They are NOT just an accessory? 

Well NOW you are taking all the fun out of parenting.  *sheesh*

It is completely ridiculous how instead of looking at a parent and saying --- with all sincerety -- we are sorry for your loss accidents happen, they decide to change what a over 50 year old icon because people refuse to to take responsibility or simply recognize something as a tragic accident? This doesn't make the tragedy any less but damn changing the shape of HOTDOGS? Come on. It was bad enough when they made bandaid change to bandaid brand, now they want to take away hotdogs and make them what hotdogburgers?

As many are saying, its utterly amazing most of us have made it to adulthood.
