Let's say there's this guy ... I'll call him "Archie". Let's say Archie has started talking to two very nice ladies who happen to be close enough that he might actually meet them. I would say there is a HUGE difference between being in a monogous relaitonship and dating. If Archie is simply meeting Betty and Veronica for dinner ect that isn't something that requires him to choose in my eyes.

Exactly! Dating is just dating. How the hell do people know who someone is deep down unless they date them first? Date both. I think that Archie should go out with both ladies. Have fun, dinner and dancing or whatever. Do not go into the evening with any expectations other than having a nice time. Getting together to do something does NOT need to equal becoming engaged. OP: I really hope that you are not one of those people that starts talking about the wedding and children on the first date, for crying out Pete's sake!
