Now your getting it. Only the fight against the public option would defeat the purpose, and their retirement accounts.

GOP views the following...

Forcing the public to buy insurance = good.

Forcing the public to buy insurance ran by government = bad.

If the government sets limits on what can be charged, what can be denied, and what can be mandated, the insurance companies lose a majority of their power... and profit. Guess whose wallets that ultimately hits.

The Republican Party is advocating for this.... on behalf of the health insurance companies.. they for stripping out all competition and then wanted to mandate we all have to get insurance... Rush backs them

Ahhh... Rush is not the Republican Party in any way shape or form. Nor does he advocate mandatory insurance, he is against it. If you listened to his show, even for just a week, you would hear him critize Republicans often.

Btw... Have you ever listened to his show?

I can tell you right now, Conservatives within the GOP are not forcing that. There are not a whole lot of Conservatives in the Senate to begin with.

But I think you might be on to something... let's give American the option of buying health insurance or paying income tax.

He is an individual citizen with a popular radio show. That's it.

He funds no Republican infrastructure, he has no say in the RNC, he's not elected to anything.

You want to stop Rush Limabugh? Find a Liberal talkshow host with Rush's audience appeal, have him or her travel the country building up their audience and convincing station owners to put the show on air for several years and get people to listen to that message.

It must be easy and simple right... that idiot Limbaugh did it... right???

I don't want to stop Rush. What I want to stop (but have given up on) is the disintegration of the conservative movement into a rabidly ignorant nativist, John Birch Society party.

Rush IS in fact the most dominant force in the GOP. This probably says more about the lack of leadership in the GOP than Rush, but still, he is the reigining champ, undisputed title holder of the Republican Party. No one dares cross him, or contradict him. He could singlehandedly write the 2012 platform and dictate it verbatim to Micheal Steele, who will faithfully act as stenographer, and maybe add "what up" at the end.

To be clear- Rush is a symptom, not the cause.

I would love an audit of what the Fed pays with IRS money.. and what each state pays with theirs.

Wow... just wow. John Birch huh...

BTW... a sympton of what... his show has been on since 1986 and since 1989 he has been the number 1 undisputed talkshow host in the United States. What did he get this power over the Republicans AFTER they chose John McCain? For that matter, how in the world did Michael Steele even get to be RNC Chair?

Limbaugh is a guy who is on the radio in the middle of the day, from 12-3pm Monday through Friday. Most of the people listening to him are doing so in their cars. On the weekend he plays golf.

He's your boggie man? He's the guy Democrats are going to run against?

Ca mon Rex, you can do better than that. At least be plausible in your satire.

Well... if you knew your enemy at least you would not make silly mistakes like he's pro mandatory health insurance. Rush's mantra is personal excellence and personal liberty.

I listen to NPR all the time, I listened to Randy Rhodes, Al Franken and Rachel Maddow too, though they kept switching stations... one of the reason Air America failed btw.

tazzygirl -> RE: Rush Lauds Socialized Medical System That Treated Him (2/25/2010 10:15:02 PM)

Since 1989? undisputed talkshow host in the United States? Im sure the ratings would say Oprah has long held that title.

Rush is a radio talkshow host, Oprah is a television talkshow host. As we were discussing Limbaugh, I thought radio was a given but if that is not clear, I'll correct... Rush Limbaugh has been the undisputed radio talkshow host since 1989.

That said, his listening audience is lager than her viewing one.

That said...

If Brown is requested to make the Rush Apology Tour and fails to do so he will be toast....ooops... he is already being labeled a RINO

Musicmystery -> RE: Rush Lauds Socialized Medical System That Treated Him (2/26/2010 12:31:50 AM)

You know, I'd almost go for a two tiered system at this point.

Pass the bill. Let each citizen decide whether to participate. This cannot be changed--they will be denied benefits should they decline to sign on, and they cannot join later. Let them play the private markets, and let everyone else have universal coverage.

We would too. I'd like to see it be like public education, available to all but people who can afford better care can go private or self pay just like people do now with education. I'm not sure why would you lock them out from changing their minds though? We don't do that with other forms of public services that people can choose to not use..why do it with healthcare?

Or, the quick method is reconcile, fuck the republicans, and pass the bill into law, and then when the republicans get into power after the midterms they can gut out the portions they didnt write.
