No quest for love has a guaranteed happy-ever-after ... but I'd rather die trying than give up.

I think your behavior and attitude virtually guarantee this.

So be it.

I'd rather be true to myself than one who desperately needs the approval of the immature.

It was a relevant piss take ... ( yesterday SL4 picked me up on "fucked up quote" and my "responsibility" .... take it up with the Eeeengleeesh or tell them we're not all Borg)

Are you always this consistant in ignoring any truth but your own?

I think Bob gets a lot of face time on here....Why is that?

In my opinion, your message of love is a positive one, however I do not believe it will be well received on collarme.com

I think you will have an easier time conveying your message to interested parties here.

Maybe I have taken too many anthropology classes...

It does not appear you've learned much from them.

The manner in which intimacy is manifested differs from culture to culture.

The love it represents can be just as deep and just as strong.

You are confusing form for substance, and fail to see that the human potential for metaphor does not change the human need for intimacy ... for love.

Cave-babies don't live long without love.

Cave-woman with child(ren) don't live long without a cave-man's love.

If all cave-men had to do was procreate, there'd be no need for love and human babies would be like caribou-babies, up and running in an hour.

That ain't the way it is. Nor was it ever that way.

It is only in the last fifty years that single mothers could survive and live a reasonable quality of life without a man.

Fifty years out of fifty thousand years of evolution.

We didn't get here without love. Disposing of it is a mistake.

Actually, women who live alone live the longest, longer than their married counterparts...

In some cultures people do not raise their own children, mothers do not "love" their babies, and women are just property...

I know that is hard to accept, the variety that human culture represents, but nonetheless Bob, it is true. I have one degree in anthropology, and I am almost to my secondary degree... (only need to write thesis). I will be going on to a PhD next... I study human variation for a living... what are  your professional credentials on this topic?

You do not know what cavemen were like, they left no cave art about women... they did leave some figures of pregnant women or women with exaggerated breasts (the first porn?)

Thanks for making my point... women have had choices to love for a very short amount of time... we weren't asked until very recently what our opinion was...

In fact I think that giving women the freedom to love and to choose sex or love is a great leap forward for our species....it has been a rare choice in the records we have of different cultures around the world.. most of us didn't get a choice at all

Do you now see why it pays to judge advice by the behaviour of the individual?

I didn't need to look to know it would be a waste of time.

Enjoy [;)]

thepillowdreamer -> RE: No wonder there are so many wannabes ... (2/27/2010 7:22:10 PM)

op, i noticed that you're ignoring a lot of posts that offer you sound advice, and posters who were nice to you.

that aside, i was just called a wannabe by someone who won't understand the fact that i won't visit him several states away, have sex with him, and not be completely alarmed by the fact that this was all offered within the span of one or two exchanges.

"wannabe" is a throwaway word that has just about as much power as "poser" or "copycat". it's the last bastion of those who refuse to leave their circular logic.

stella41b -> RE: No wonder there are so many wannabes ... (2/27/2010 7:28:49 PM)

You know I don't really have any issues with the intention of the OP but the message is lost in the judgmental attitudes towards people in general.

Acceptance of people for the individuals they really are and humility to me are the basis of not just love but also emotional maturity. Until the OP shows that he has grasped both of these fundamental concepts then I'm sorry, but his message will always be one of hypocrisy, and neither true love nor maturity.

I didn't need to look to know it would be a waste of time.

This is a mistake on your behalf, as your message would be well received there.

It is quite plausible you would eventually find love there with someone who shares your values.

Yes, and you can thank our christian heritage for the problem. Paul placed women under men.

Everyone has always had the choice ... regardless of whether their society approved or not.

That doesn't mean every choice is a healthy one.

Have you looked at the divorce rate? The number of children in single-parent families?

We used to have extended families ... then we had nuclear families ... now we have splintered families.

We used to raise children with a parent in the home. Any idea how many kids are in daycare?

We used to play outside, without adult supervision, until the first street-light came on. Childhood obesity wasn't a problem.

How is that working out in the urban jungles?

Not all choices are healthy ones, and in dispensing with love we dispense with the best, most noble parts of who we are as a species.

And we pay the price.
