I like Steve Jobs and it's good to see Apple caught it and are doing something to fix it.

You didn't see that story about the guy who leaked the prototype of the last model to the press jumping off a roof after the plant security beat the shit out of him, Brain? Have a look on Google. This is hardly news.
Apple's pricing would be even more elitist if the stuff wasn't being assembled in sweatshops under China's economic miracle.

I don't think those people who can afford the latest shiny gadget gives a shit about who or what built their latest dribble machine, they are more interested in their gadget and fact that they have it for it's kudos attracting qualities.

In fact look at all the gadgets we are able to afford in the West, it is highly likely it is the same underpaid, over worked people that built them as well.

The release of such information in Apple's case is more about damaging their public profile than anything else as few in the West care what happens in other countries and certainly won't ditch their wonder gadget for a news report, no matter how true it is, if they do, they have my admiration.

We are technically enjoying our easy lives on the backs of what amounts to no more than slave labour in far eastern countries, we get our products relatively cheap, definately affordable, because those that make them work longer hours than we would and get paid far less than we would accept as an extreme minimum. It is also usual, that they, the builders themselves cannot afford to buy what they make.

No I didn't see the story but they have no relationship to each other. So I don't understand what your point is

I agree, but they work at ten. If they test the cameras in them you might get something really illegal, but who cares. We support the slavery imposed upon them and are therefore as guilty as their Masters. They are not human, they are slaves. Do whatever you want. And make sure to get the other options, more buttons !

You buy this fucking shit knowing full well what it is and who made it. You are as guilty as the people who oppress them, because you facilitate it and finance it.

Want references from your own posts right on this board ? I can figure out the right search terms and supply plenty of them. So if you were right then, I am right now. But I am not pissed, double standards are the rule these days.

After school, or were you forced to quit school? Did you have to send your low wages to your family that lived in a hut in some village and expected you to continue at that job for like 10 years, expending your youth, perhaps never getting married or having a family?

Most sweatshop labor is female because women are easier to control and their families can be bribed by sending their pay directly to their parents... they see none of their pay, employers take their room and board out and leaves them with NOTHING...

I have seen a couple of documentaries about this and read a few ethnographies that address it
