What is serious to me may be vanilla to someone else, and fluffy to yet another.
To those in a relationship it is 1:1. To those looking fruitlessly it is thousand to one.

What I have observed is that most of your threads have the underlying question of "why can't I find someone?"  But that's just my observation.

At the time I met my Master, I probably wouldn't have fit your definition of "serious" as I could not have known at the initial contact that I would want to 'live the life' 24/7 with Him or anyone else for that matter but was simply open to the idea.  What happened is we communicated, grew to know each other and by the time we met (in just a few weeks after initial contact) I knew this was a man I could live with and be completely fulfilled.

A relationship is that...how people relate to each other.  It's not a microwave dinner, it's not a ready made thing.  Like building any kind of structure it takes a stable foundation, a basic framework, and the right fasteners to keep it together.

Can you ask a much easlier question
that people can actually answer such as;

What's the ratio of Goslings to Ducks on the message board?

This is something I've thought about over the years, what is the ratio of serious dominants to serious submissives , male dom/female submissive

by serious i mean those that actually want to live the life and have a basic understanding of what it entails.

what have you observed?

125:1 on a good day

934:25 on a bad day

Okay, I'm going to ask a question in response to your question, with the hopes of it getting at what the real question/issue is. Attempting to look under the hood here for a moment.

osf, why are you wondering what the ratio of serious Dominants is to serious submissives is in the first place? Why have you thought about it on/off over the years?

It means go do something futile, like carry water in a sieve.

Nothing personal against the OP, but there have been a trillion posts on the ratio issue.

My question is why?

(First-Who would trust numbers generated on a random site full of liars with no one provable? The very best you will get is an extremely subjective guess.
Two-WTF do the numbers matter anyhow? It's not like they would change anything. The creeps, fakes, wannabes, scammers are still going to be there. Base rule of the net-leave the screen door open, flies are gonna come in. It's a free site. Moreover, sexual immorality/predators are not exclusive to just BDSM, it's not just the net, like it or not, it's part of human behavior. People been sleeping around, sleazing, cheating, lying to get pussy/cock since the dawn of time and ain't nothing gonna change that any time soon.)

I've been knocking around BDSM forums since Gore first invented the net and there is this constant drip drip drip, the chinese water torture of whining, of people bemoaning the numbers
10 males to a girl
50
100
100,000

10 "fakes" per "real" person, 50, 100
And then we get into the motive measuring methodologies. In this case "actually" and "basic understanding"
How many "serious" or any other such descriptive terms-poser, phony, wannabe.

Whatever.

I worry about me and mine.
I'd rather do than waste my time speculating on useless topics.
I've never been one for watching from the stands when I could be on the field playing.

The only number that matters to me is one (or if you are poly, 3, or 5, or 768.2.-whatever number strikes your fancy.)
One slave. One dominant. One power exchange.
I rule. She serves.

~Severe derailment warning~
Since we've opened this can o'worms, here's a number question for the masses.
What percentage of threads based on absurd questions are started by Nigerian scammers picking our brains so their letters/fake profiles can sound more realistic?

People keep saying that it's impossible to know, it really isn't. You could set up outside a bdsm event and start a poll, it's just that no one has done that. You'd just have to be careful how you phrased your questions so that you'd find out if they met your definition of serious as opposed to theirs.

P.S. I might have a different definition of serious or 24/7 then you do. I'd answer yes to are you a serious dom but no to the 24/7 because I don't wear leather chaps and a shirt that says kneel bitch to work.

well if you need a sub to be Dom(me) ( and vice versa)..the ratio would be atleast 1:1

What about poly families?

the at least was aimed at that

You do realize that the highlighted above would not be definitive in any way.  It would only tell you the ratio of attendees at that particular event.  The numbers would be skewed because many people don't attend events and even more don't participate in such things if they are currently single.

But saying 'at least' when you're talking about a 1:1 ratio is meaningless, unless you specify which side would be increasing if it was 'more' than 1:1...

complaints...but no solutions?
give advise..and I change it to your likings

ps..I can easily speak about at least...because it indicates it will always be above 1. so either 2:1 or 1:2...
( yes..I like to be right..lol)

But if it rises on one side then it's going to decrease on the other-so if you're starting from 1:1 then you have to say which side of the ratio is going to increase.

I can't provide you with a solution because I don't know which you think might increase and which side might decrease-putting 'at least' in the sentence implies that 1:1 is rock bottom for one of the sides, but you have to specify which.

quote:

ps..I can easily speak about at least...because it indicates it will always be above 1. so either 2:1 or 1:2...
( yes..I like to be right..lol)

But it's the either bit of that sentence which makes your initial statement meaningless. All ratios would be at least 1:1 under your logic here (if both 2:1 and 1:2 are an increase on 1:1), so why bother to say it?

So I'm sorry but you aren't right, no matter how much you may like to be.

so why bother to say it?

because you asked ?

ps:
still no solution..again..just complaints

D:s 1:1
for poly D:s 1:>2
here you go...

I wasn't saying I was right-I still haven't put forward an answer to the OP. I was saying that you weren't.

quote:

quote:

because you asked ?

I was referring to your original statement, not to your answer to me. I didn't ask you anything initially...

quote:

ps:
still no solution..again..just complaints

I explained that I couldn't give you a solution because I wasn't sure what you were trying to say. I gave you a suggestion on how to clarify...

quote:

D:s 1:1
for poly D:s 1:>2
here you go...

...which you then took.

That'll do me! Thankyou for indulging my statistical pedantry.
