LuvnFemAuthority -> Dominant/Dominate (3/5/2010 8:02:14 PM)

I apologize for this rant upfront as I'm almost certain this must have been the topic of a thousand threads.  Still I have to...

If you say in your profile or in your messages to people that you are a dominate, you are a complete moron.  I don't know how many profiles I have unfortunately happened upon, usually upon logging in and out, stating such.  If you were born in a country where English is the dominant language, you are an ignorant uneducated fool.  You don't belong in a position of authority if you can't make a coherent sentence.

For the last time (well, probably not really the last time I'm sad to say) DOMINANT is an ADJECTIVE and DOMINATE is a VERB.  They are not interchangeable.  You cannot say you are a verb. That is stupid!  So the way this works is this:

You can say:
I am a dominant person.
I dominate others.
I am a Domme/Dom. (which is short for dominant person)

You cannot say:
I am a dominate.
I am a dominant.

I will not pretend to be a grammar professor.  I make plenty of mistakes.  This one, however, is really grating on my nerves.

DarkSteven -> RE: Dominant/Dominate (3/5/2010 8:05:39 PM)

I use Dominant as a noun occasionally.  And I will continue to do so.

Which brings up an interesting point for the fourth tone of a major or minor scale, the subdominant.

What do we do with THAT?

Aylee -> RE: Dominant/Dominate (3/5/2010 8:19:19 PM)

Dominate is the new sexy.

thornhappy -> RE: Dominant/Dominate (3/5/2010 8:22:14 PM)

I thought it was the new black.

UniqueRaven -> RE: Dominant/Dominate (3/5/2010 8:22:38 PM)

If someone writes me and either their initial email or their profile says "I am a Dominate" i don't care what else it says, they immediately get my "no thanks" response.

i think it is important for both Dom and sub to educate themselves, and present themselves as such. For me in my current search for an Owner, if he'll say "I am a Dominate," i wonder to myself what other details that might actually be really important to my safety as his owned property and slave might he not be bothered to learn, or pay attention to? [;)]

There really is a lot to be found in the details.

Dominant/Dominate potential for getting laid punnett square:

D=Dominate.the act of/actually, actively getting sum
MDf=Male Dominant, prefers females
MDm=" " , prefers males
De/m=Domme.preferring males
De/f=Domme.preferring females
sf=sub, female
sm=sub, male
sa=sub alpha within poly (m or f)
sd=sub delta within poly (m or f)

MDf MdM De/m De/f

sf sm sm sf

sf/sa/sd sm,sa/sd sm,sam,sdm sf,saf,sdf

conclusion: the semantics of what you use and how you use the word isn't THAT important as long as it looks visually correct within the correlation of the sentence, entire thought and paragragh. What matters is...that someone is getting some fine bdsm going on, instead of just worrying about taking D/e ESL lessons in black n white here (or blue).

*edit: shit, what i made as a graph, came out as mere dribble LOL grr

I guess what I'm sayin' is. Ok, the arguement is as old as the hills, BUT, look at the date on the dictionary quotes (1918).

Just like many other words (recently formed/reshaped) to be then nouns are now verbs.

like:

Roast - a cooked hunk-o-meat / or the current act of cooking it
Roast - The humiliation via Dean Martin et al

Toast, same thing, except with a glass/bottle of booze in yer hand

Polly wants a cracker (polly must be a parrot)
Polly acts like such a cracker (polly must be black)

LinnaeaBorealis -> RE: Dominant/Dominate (3/5/2010 8:33:49 PM)

When my Daddy was IM'ing with me about collaring me, he accidentally misspelled it as "collarded".  I found this extra amusing since he is of the blacker persuasion.  So I put it in my sig line.  This amuses me even more, because I know that there are people who think I don't know that it's misspelled.  One person actually told me that I had a misspelled word in my sig line.  *snort*

Btw, he may not have spelled that correctly, but he has been & continues to be the most wonderful dominate I can imagine.  [8D]

WinsomeDefiance -> RE: Dominant/Dominate (3/5/2010 8:35:18 PM)

ouch, Came4u.  That made my head ache.

came4U -> RE: Dominant/Dominate (3/5/2010 8:38:21 PM)

WinsomeDefiance -> RE: Dominant/Dominate (3/5/2010 8:39:34 PM)

LOL!  Hmm.....if it isn't, it should be.

came4U -> RE: Dominant/Dominate (3/5/2010 8:41:18 PM)

Winsome is a winner, she wonsome, she lost some, but she always is wonderous at the Wonderwinsomeness.

*k yer right, it can make your head hurt .

One night, my beloved but typo-prone local diner had "collared" greens on the menu, and I immediately thought of you, Linea!
