Some of you may have noticed I use a lot of alternative thinking websites, I do this I guess because I refuse to believe what is, is and that is that, because a reason or solution has been found, it is not to say it is the correct reason or solution, or other valid reasons can not be found and there similarly solutions. Because something fits or appears to work, that is not to say it is a complete solution. I feel for myself to accept the status quo on anything, it is akin to saying let others decide on my behalf, which is something I will not do, as freedom features high on my agenda, my freedom to understand for myself.

So, What is the thinking as regards to alternative websites, are they useful, or are they a danger, for I would be interested to know how many people here in this broad cross section of largely western internet society believe what they are told, or think otherwise ? (Jokingly though, perhaps this could be a measure of how well trained a person is to accept what society tells them.)

Or perhaps it would be useful in seeing who does and does not have basic critical thinking skills.

Yep, I do have to get the grasp of those, it matters for my college studies on the history of art, but difficulty comes with different thinking, what might be obvious to some, is not to some others.

Despite the static I thought this was the place. We have the solutions for many problems, your olady on the rag, tie her up. She keeps smacking you in the head tie her up. If she gets out go to extremerestraints and we can fix that.

Really I thought we were here.

I don't know exactly to what you are referring. If alternate thinking is amuck, it is here. I think. Except for the lovers of the status quo, people are generally nuts. I know I am.

So, what's on your mind ?

~Fast Reply~

It all depends, for me, on the presence or absence of logic. I'm all for alternatives unless they're simply ridiculous.

There is very little new thought in this world... Can you personally think of anything truly original... not thought of by another already? I'll bet you can't and neither can I. So looking for new thoughts in alternative websites is no more productive then looking in any other site. Most all the so-called "alternative thinking websites" are just thoughts that have been rejected as radical or wrong by the majority.

There is wisdom in the masses...so look for thoughts common to your peers you can personally agree with. Work through the majority, not outside it, for change if you don't agree.

What is on my mind, the status quo, are people that well trained to accept what the status quo tells them is the status quo, or are they able to think for themselves, check the options and there decide for themselves what they wish to believe.

I tend not to follow the status quo, for that reason I am either alternative thinking or nuts, take your pick, whatever hat fits in the eyes of the normal. I just think followers of what officialdom dictate are either well trained or unthinking for themselves.

At my art college recently, we have been told to keep away from websites that involve conspiracy theories, as what we read is influencing our  beliefs about the world in which we live, which transpires in our work. Interestingly of all those in the class, not one person did not have a conspiracy theory about what is around us. Just to note the class age range is from mid twenties to mid fifties and a 90/10 percent female/male ratio, all studying the arts, fine artists, crafters, film makers, photographers and fashion designers. Either we are all nuts, alternative thinking or we can see something else hidden from normal view. We were being taught how to accept information and write academically.

My thoughts as to why conspiratoral thought is prominent, is we are living in a very public world, which gets more public every day, something past generations might not have had beyond written works and libraries.
